I love this place, this staff, this management. Let me back up and tell our story. We needed to find a wonderful place for Mom without breaking the bank. After looking and being disappointed at every turn, we made an appointment with Jennifer Executive Director and Jodi Director of Sales person, to tour Sunrise in Lenexa. Dad and my sister sat down with them and told them Mom's story. She had Alzheimer. We had placed her in a place called Reflection Living and were assured she would be taken care of, but the next morning Dad received a call to come pick up Mom, they were not able to care for her. So, we were very hesitant when Jennifer assured us they would never do that, that they were equipped and the staff was trained to take care of Mom. Jennifer asked us to give them a try and we would not be disappointed. Dad looked over at me, I knew he had the same rock in his gut that I did. Neither of us a good feeling. We toured the facility. Three floors with the top floor dedicated to memory care, called Reminisce for flight risk and high needs people. The first and second floor for those who could get around and take care of the basics by themselves. The thing was Mom didn't fit completely into either area. She still was still happy and talking. She was not a flight risk, but needed help with daily needs. Jodi recommended the room next to her office. Now we're not talking just a room with a bathroom. We're talking a spacious room with a kitchenet, and a bathroom. In fact the whole facility felt like being in a luxury hotel or cruise ship. High class decorations and beautiful lay out. So many little areas to take Mom for a gathering of people or a small intimate area for just a few of us. Or just to watch TV with a group. Still nervous about moving mom after the debacle at Reflection living we were nervous, but we let the Nurse and the Assisted Living Coordinator come interview Mom. I loved them. They were personal and funny with her and she responded in kind to them. They got her personality right off the bat. We moved her a few days later into Sunrise Lenexa. We visited almost daily. After three days the staff who took care of Mom treated her as if she were family. They even knew our names as if we'd been there for years. It was very reassuring, but what put Sunrise over the top for me was their connection to and care of Mom and their connection to my Dad. They called Dad one day, they noticed something was off with Mom and had called the EMTs to come check her out. Turns out she needed to go to the hospital to be observed. She stayed over night and came back the next day, but she would have been in the hospital longer if it hadn't been for the sharp eyes and honest caring of the Sunrise Community. We lost Mom this past Christmas. The staff came to the visitation and the Funeral. That said a lot to me, they loved her, she wasn't just another person on their roster, they really cared. I can't tell you what this group of people mean to me. I've lost my Mom and the closeness I had with her because of Alzheimer's, but because these people cared for her day to day needs, so I was able to enjoy the time I had with her. If you're looking for a quality facility with top notch people who will care for your loved one, please give Sunrise of Lenexa and Jennifer a call. You will not be disappointed.

If you call being left on the toilet for 2 hours until help arrives good care you are wrong. This happened more than twice and this was despite my father calling for help by pulling the call light string and his around the neck pendant multiple times. Or finally wheeling himself down the hall at 2:00 a.m. to find someone to give him his nighttime medicine and being helped to bed. His regular time was 11:00 p.m. He finally found someone. They were asleep in the activity room!!! My father has passed away and I feel like his death was accelerated by the lack of good care. DO NOT send your loved one here. Trying to speak with or visit Jennifer/Director is like trying to get a hold of the President!!! I feel like the receptionist is told a different excuse daily on what to tell people why she is unavailable
When looking for a place for my sister, I was pleasantly surprised by Sunrise. Very clean, happy atmosphere, friendly, professional and personable. Loved the idea that assisted living was on the first floor which made a good impression upon entering. Looked like a lot of activities and great menu. I would go there myself!
We moved my grandma here and it was the best choice of assisted living we found! The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming to my grandma. She has so many new friends and fun activities to do to keep her busy in between our visits. I would 100% recommend Sunrise!
My dad was at Sunrise of Lenexa in the Memory Care unit for the last 6 months of his life. He went from a depressed, lonely man who was unable to care for himself, to finding joy again under their skillful care. The staff treated him like family and got to know him on a personal basis. He really loved them like family. The facility is big, bright and cheerful, the personalized care is incredible and the Memory Care team has a tenured and well-qualified team. They serve 3 hot meals each day and the food is good! They also welcomed family visits and never made us feel like we were in the way. They had lots of activities and celebrations and they make each resident feel special in their own way. I would choose Sunrise again... and would also be happy to live there myself when and if that time comes.
