I worked here for 8 months, and my colleagues were absolutely lovely. The job could be tough at times, but everyone always managed to stay positive and supportive. I had to leave due to personal circumstances, but I’m truly grateful for the experience and the amazing people I worked with. When I left, they even surprised me with a farewell party and the most beautiful cake — it really meant a lot to me. I’ll always treasure the memories we made together.

Below One Star I was the Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) for my grandmother while she was a resident at SunnyCare. She passed away from a severe terminal brain hemorrhage caused by prolonged high blood pressure. A direct result of not receiving her prescribed blood pressure medication. Shirley called to inform me that my grandmother had suffered a seizure, claiming she had refused her medication for a couple of weeks. However, she then told paramedics it had been a couple of months and later provided yet another timeframe to the hospital where my grandmother was admitted. On the day of my grandmother’s passing, Cathy called to offer condolences but immediately attempted to cover their tracks, insisting they had repeatedly tried to notify me about her refusal of medication. When I challenged her claim, she scoffed and dismissively remarked, "She was very old anyway, and we tried to book a meeting, but you didn’t turn up," laughing as she said it. She quickly tried to apologise, but the damage was done. Under investigation, there was no record of any meeting ever being set, nor any indication that the next of kin or EPOA were notified about her refusal of medication. Staff alleged that my grandmother refused medication over the course of several months (though this later changed to weeks) and that they had attempted to contact me and the other EPOA. Investigations found this to be a lie. Additionally, during her stay, the facility steadily increased the number of medications she was given without notifying me, despite my direct request for updates. My grandmother, who only required two essential pills per day, was treated like a battery hen, force-fed excessive medications, including eight Panadol per day, just one example of their extreme overmedication. The only way I found out was when my grandmother herself complained about the number of pills she was being given. Investigation Findings: The in-house doctor ordered the cessation of certain medications and instructed staff to notify the EPOA, this was ignored. The doctor also ordered regular blood monitoring, this was ignored. My grandmother was listed as incapable of making medical decisions, requiring EPOA consultation, this was ignored. The staff members who consistently failed to administer medication included YanJuan Wang (Cindy), Qi Hu (Kay), and Yanxu Chai. I have spent over 12 months in investigations with multiple agencies, and the evidence of professional misconduct, bordering on malevolent intent, is overwhelming. There are layers upon layers of ignored protocols, unreported incidents, and blatant attempts to manipulate reports in the facility’s favour. There are so many issues that I can’t even list them all. If you have a family member staying here or are considering placing them in this facility, please, for their sake, look elsewhere. Do not be deceived by the friendly faces at the front desk, especially Cathy. If you absolutely have no other choice, take every possible precaution: - Hold staff accountable to even the most basic procedures. -Monitor medications bi-weekly or monthly—they will add medications without explanation under the guise of "age-related necessity" (because, apparently, 8 Panadol a day is normal). -Speak directly to the floor staff who oversee your loved one’s care—do not rely on managers to pass on instructions. I am still waiting on the team leader's (Casey) phone call 12+ months later. I wish I didn't have to write this review. But I wish more that someone wrote a review like this for me to read before I admitted my own Grandmother here. Attached is a photo of staff member laughing Cathy writing her own review of sunnycare whilst sending an email as staff. I add this for public transparency and to allude to the demeanour of which they conduct themselves in.
