From what I've observed as a relative of a resident in assisted living, Sun Towers is a very good, very high quality retirement facility. However from my personal experience there is 1 aspect of the operation that needs fine tuning and that is the accurate dispensation of residents' daily medication(s). Errors that I witnessed were rare occurrences but even one inaccuracy can have serious repercussions. I know for certain the staff are working to the best of their ability. It is up to the management to implement the necessary procedural adjustments that will eliminate all oversights. The facility is very clean & tidy; there is never a lingering unsanitary odor anywhere in the entire building. There are daily activities and enrichment programs for the residents to partake in. Staff are mostly attentive to the needs of the residents. Management personnel are available at least 8 hrs per day and are easily accessible to residents. The food is high quality and delicious. There is variety in the weekly menu and daily selections, and the portions are extremely plentiful.

My grandparents Johanne and Frank White moved in a few weeks ago. And already this have had an amazing experience. Unfortunately grandma had a slip and fall incident but they called and they had help immediately and were able to check on any injuries and took care of all her needs. The staff here is amazing and helpful.
We have been working with Sun Towers for several months, trying to help my mom move into an apartment. There are many nice features at Sun Towers, especially the residents we met throughout the process. In the end we decided against her moving into the Towers for two main reasons, first, the process and apparent high turnover in the sales/marketing staff. Second, the decline in maintenance over the months we were working with them. The issue with the apparent staff turnover resulted in us speaking/meeting/communicating with 5 different people. Because I had been diligent in writing down information, it was apparent we were being told different things by different people. The explanation each time I asked why I was getting different information was that the person was new. We have already been through a promises made and not kept situation where she lives now and I was not comfortable with that at all. The issue with the decline in maintenance developed over time. The first time we previewed the building I was pretty impressed. When we took my mom there she noted the dirty carpet in the hallways and mentioned it to the sales person taking her around. The response we got was that the carpet cleaner was broken. Over the next few months, as we tried to find the right apartment, the carpet didn't ever get cleaned, and we started noticing other issues, like wallpaper peeling in the front entry. Not in a hidden location, but very visible. We were shown some apartments that were supposedly ready to rent that were dingy or had other maintenance issues. To be clear, we were ready to move her in, we had paid the deposit, but it hit a tipping point where we decided she'd be better off somewhere else. I hope they can fix these things. It really had our interest. It is in a great location and has many nice amenities.
My father was in there for rehab/nursing care after he was discharged from the hospital. He had Stage 4 bladder cancer that went to his brain. He couldn’t walk without help. They would put him in a sling to move him to a chair. They left him in the sling one time for so long that when I arrived he was crying, had soiled himself, and had bruises where the sling had been. He never cried before. It broke my heart. I went into the charge nurse’s office and she said it was my word against hers. No exaggeration. The place should be called Sun Terrors. I took him home that day.
My friends are moving BACK to Sun Towers after leaving less than a year ago. They missed the amenities, care, and friendships that were key to their well-being and happiness. After investigating other facilities in the area, it's comforting to know they've chosen the one that will keep them safe and engaged as they continue to live independently. The staff is very friendly, helpful and sincere. My friends were welcomed back with open arms and big smiles. An added benefit is that Sun Towers also offers assisted living options in the event they ever need it down the road.
