We moved my father into Summerset assisted living The first week of January 2025. This had been after a trying ordeal and a lot of family issues where he ended up needing assisted living. So we moved him across country from the city he spent 70+ years in, which, of course, was a huge change. He moved across country to be closer to his grandchildren, and be able to experience the rest of his life in a much warmer climate. Not only was this the right choice, it was the right place to bring him. He has been thriving at Summerset since he got there. In the last 2 1/2 months He went from needing the highest level of assistance, to now needing their level three care. I can’t speak highly enough about the staff, and everyone who has now become a new part of his life. I’ve also been able to hang out with my father for the first time on a weekly basis since I moved away back in 1990. It’s been a change for both of us, His grandchildren, love to see him, And he keeps getting stronger every week. If you are looking for a place to trust that your family members will be taken care of and cared for, I cannot speak highly enough about this team or this Organization. It starts at the top, the administrators care, the support staff care, the partnerships they have built to work with to deliver other services are fantastic, and all the hands on staff have been amazing. Here’s to the next several years of partnering together, and making my dad’s life better.

I moved my mom from a very expensive residence in Los Altos. The cost for the place was extremely high, it was where she was happy living until her memory began to fail. They moved her into a 'skilled nursing' facility on the campus that was just horrible. I had to move her out, and wanted her closer to home so I could be with her and watch her care. After visiting all the memory care and assisted living facilities, in Reno, I found Summerset to be the best place for my mother. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the staff were amazing! In the time my mother was living there, I met so many wonderful people, residents, their family, and staff. It was like a large family. When I needed something for my mom, it didn't matter what time day or night, I could send a text to one of the management team and they would take care of it. When I visited, I would hear stories of fun things my mother did while I was away. Everyone knew me and who my mom was. I always felt welcomed. We did regular visits and pop in visits, mom was always clean and dressed when we got there. She was happy there. Some meals she liked better than others, she had her favorite staff and would point them out. As her memory failed, she would do some silly stuff, the staff would roll with it, treat her with kindness and respect, and help her by guiding her in another direction. The care at Summerset was far above the care she received in the 'millionaire's paradise' in the Bay Area. Summerset staff care and that makes a difference. Those that don't care, didn't seem to stay very long. When the time came for my mom to be on Hospice, and her life was ending, Summerset had a respite room available for family. I couldn't bring myself to leave my mother, and they let me stay in her room, offering me anything I might need. Some of the staff would console me when no other family was near, one nurse stayed by my side and held me as I cried. My mother passed peacefully, many staff members came by and gave condolences and fond memories. I never felt a sense of urgency to leave, or move mom's things out. When we drove away for the last time, I felt so much gratitude for the team at Summerset. If you have to move a loved one into memory care, I would suggest Summerset. Because they care, they will do their best to fix anything that you find upsetting for your loved one. No place is perfect, but this place tries hard to do what is best for their residents.
Before selecting Summerset for my husband’s memory care, I visited numerous facilities. Summerset stands out with its aesthetically pleasing murals adorning the hallways, the bird aviary, the expansive patio and outdoor area featuring a putting green, and the overall vibrant and cheerful ambiance. The staff at Summerset is exceptional, from the director’s prompt and responsive interactions with various departments to the caregivers who demonstrate a genuine interest in each resident. My husband has been a resident for a year now, and his contentment is evident, which fills me with immense joy.
My grandma lives at Summerset and we are glad we chose this location over some others. She really did not want to move from her house but we couldn’t be happier that she is taken care of by the wonderful people there. The directors have always been willing to talk through stuff. And we are grateful.
I have worked for Summerset for a little over 4 months. Like any new facility.Yes , there needs to be some polishing done. As a caregiver and medtech to the administration and anybody, that works in any memory care. Any assistant living in any adaptive living will tell you. It is not easy to do what we do, but we do it with love. We do the best job that we can considering any and all circumstances, there is always going to be flaws in any facility that you take your family to. Summerset has been working diligently over the last several months with staffing with making the place an excellent facility to take your family to. There's always going to be issues. But they do their best to solve those issues and to accommodate any and all needs of their residence. I have enjoyed tremendously working for this facility. They are very understanding and they are a family oriented company. I enjoy taking care of my residents. I can speak for many of my coworkers that they love what they do as well.
