Wow! We were looking for a retirement home for mum with independent living and came across this little (although big in size) gem. Expensive - yes, but luckily Bristol house prices meant that it could be afforded. Mum deserved it, having worked hard all her 9+ decades bringing up a family! It has a gym, hair salon, arts and crafts room, bistro, bar, games room (with full size snooker table), large room with an electric mini grand piano on its stage, library, small shop and so on. A full programme of events . . . I could go on (and on!). 9 months on . . Mum still absolutely loves being here (she frequently says how lucky she is, living there - part of the reason is that she has a lovely outlook overlooking the small grassed (council) play park) with all the activities on offer and other facilities available - but she is a sociable person so makes good use of them as a way to meet with, and chat to, others. I noticed on one review that it said that the apartments are packed in but I disagree - the apartments themselves are spacious and the corridors are easily wide enough for two large mobility scooter to pass side-by-side, all adding to the sense of space . The biggest downside, I would say, is the lack of a lovely communal garden area where residents could sit outside in attractive surroundings.

This place is really run down do not visit here. Staff work tirelessly yet they don’t get appreciated enough. The residents are not happy with the building as it is falling apart. The plastering is falling yet nothing is done. The building leaks yet nothing gets done for that either. Stoke Gifford Retirement Village will not be going for much longer before it is shut down.
Don’t not book with these people they will waist your time ! Booked one of the rentable halls back in November 2023 for my son first birthday happening in May 2024. I was told by the secretary that the week I proposed was free . I then proceeded with the booking and a paid the deposit . I was contacted last week and told that the place has been overbooked. No apologies , not been offered a different date. Made me clear that black community is not accepted in their place. Asked for some sort of clarification last Saturday. I was told last week by one of the secretaries that the manager would have contact me this week just gone … still waiting. Highly disappointed.
Had a day working here. It looks like the retirees have a fantastic facility here, with a library, arts and crafts room, what appeared to be crèche, a bar and probably a lot more that I didn't see. All the old folks seemed to be really happy, which was great to see.
Fantastic place to live. Friendly, helpful and caring staff. All needs catered for within the village and addressable to all including those not living there. Great community as a whole. Amenities include basic shop, hair salon, beautition, gym, craft centre, village hall used for cinema, shows, bowls, table tennis... Could not speak more highly.
