Kleine Houtweg 139, 2012 CG Haarlem, Netherlands
My mother lived here for four years. Three years in the Spaar en Hout building and one year in the Tussenhout building next door of the same organization. Although there is a lot of room for improvement at management level, the permanent care staff are fantastic. Unfortunately, potential residents of Tussenhout appear to be turned off by the fact that it is a closed institution and that their own room is not very large. I would say try to look through that, there is a very spacious and pleasant living room per floor where you can sit very comfortably during the day and where the employees really do their best to take good and pleasant care of the people. In addition, residents can sit downstairs in the garden and the grounds are beautiful for taking a walk with the residents. Furthermore, quite a lot is organized for the residents and my mother really spent a good last year of her life there. We as a family were also dreading that, but it was anything but disappointing for us. There is not even a waiting list at the moment (early April 2025). All in all, I could really recommend it for people with dementia who need specialized care!

A friend of my mother lives here. It is a super beautiful area. The caretakers are very kind to the residents.
What a thoroughly bad institution. It is scandalous how this institution treats its staff. I really do not understand why they do not check this once. They dodge the rules and get away with it. And you dare not say much, otherwise they will get back at you in one way or another. What you get is internal strife between staff. The clients are caught in the middle and have to absorb all that mutual stress. Unbelievable! A lot goes wrong, which is hidden away by management. I hope the inspection will do a very thorough round there.
Cozy atmosphere. Correctly. Beautiful building
