I was iffy about writing a review but the more I thought about it.. the more people need to know what happened to my father at Stella Maris! We searched around for the best possible rehab to put my father while he recovered from a TBI and a seizure. Stella Maris received very high reviews and was highly recommended to us. We took a tour and loved what we saw. Let me first say.. there is ONE nurse and tech per 25 rooms! (We were NOT told that when we inquired) When we needed help; feeding, cleaning, changing him from a wet bad.. there were times we waited a good hour or two. IF they even acknowledged that they would be there shortly. There were times I would go to the nurses station; many times to ask for help. The nurses and techs were on personal phone calls and video calls many of the times. My father was a high fall risk, which was written on his board in room, outside his room and even on the computer records. It was also stated that he needs to be hand fed his meals due to his hands not completely working. We would visit my father daily and there were many times that his food was against the wall where he could not reach and COLD! There were also many times that there was NO water close by for him to try to drink. Getting back to the “fall risk” Yes.. My father FELL TWICE on their watch! Received calls (Your father was found with his head on the floor and his body in the bed was the first call – they could NOT tell me how long he was on the floor) When you would ask questions, the nurses would get very rude and not answer. I even asked for videos and they refused. They were suppose to clean/wash/bathe my father twice a week which was NOT done. There was a odor coming from him and I mentioned it to both the nurse and tech many times.. they did NOTHING about it. I clearly told them many times he has a fungal infection that needs to be taken care of.. again NOTHING! Two weeks later the wound nurse came in and said he had a fungal infection. The nurses as this place were TERRIBLE & RUDE! IT was so obvious that they did not want to be there and do their jobs. PLEASE.. if you are looking to put your loved one here.. look elsewhere! It's not what is use to be! I do have a timeline of everything that happened to my father including all the staffs names that we had issues with. I blame Stella Maris 100% for how my father is today - which is not good!! Follow UP - Stella Maris responded below, to my comment.. This is NOTHING they didn't already know as I was in contact with the admins the WHOLE time my father was there! They did NOTHING not did they care!

This place doesn't deserve one star! After being in the hospital for almost 2 weeks because of severe back pain, my sister was transferred to Stella Maris Rehab. She was being given dilauded and tramadol for pain at the hospital. An ambulance transferred her to the Rehab center around 130pm and we met her there. Thankfully she was given pain meds before she left the hospital. A request was made at around 330pm for pain medication. As of 845pm she still hasn't been given anything for pain relief. So my poor sister is hysterical and in terrible pain and has been told they are waiting for dilauded to be available. Call me crazy but shouldn't whatever medication you require be ready and available when you arrive? We chose Stella Maris because it is close to us, even though their rating on Google isn't great. We figured it would be ok. Well, we made a big mistake. Chose another facility for your loved ones. We will probably be taking her home, rather than subjecting her to anymore problems.
My mom has been here less than a week & our Family is praying for her Rehabilitation Treatment to go well.. Regretfully although she requires assistance, when she presses the button for assistance there's no sense of Urgency. We've waited before about 20 minutes, but I had already assisted her because no one ever came. I don't want to risk my Mom falling again when she is required to have assistance. Their personal conversations in the hallway appear to be the Priorty, as opposed to the Patients they are here for.
On behalf of my family, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the care and support provided to my brother Andy. In such a short amount of time, Andy has made incredible progress—he is now able to use a spoon to eat and is walking up the stairs with much more confidence than before. I’d also like to extend a special thank you to the entire team for your dedication. A special mention goes to Stephanie for reaching out to Andy caseworker at DDA, which led to Andy being recategorized to Crisis Resolution. The staff at Stella Maris HomeCare has been exceptional, and we are deeply grateful for everything you have done. Thank you again for the amazing support! Paige-Joseph-Stephaine-Lindsay- If I forgot anyone, my apologies! Thank you again for the amazing service provide to my brother! Warm regards, Alex
My 93 year old mother was in a rehab for 3 weeks, she was declining. We transferred her to Stella Maris . Within 2 weeks at Stella Maris mom was stronger , capable of walking, dressing her self , and had her happy spirit back. Everyone at Stella Maris was exceptional . Extremely kind, caring & helpful. Mom loved the food and place was very clean! Excellent patient care , and outstanding rehabilitation outcomes.
