Your loved one needs to have their own phone because this place does not like to answer. A recording comes on, you hold, press what they ask & the computer still doesn't get it, at least that's what it continues to say before disconnecting the phone. If the phone system doesn't work, I can only imagine what the workers do. It's also sad when a nurse or aid is asked a simple question & does not reply with a very simple answer. How hard is it, when asked, "did my mother, aunt, sister, brother, dad, uncle, etc. eat today"? The answer is either yes or no, it's just that simple. Get your superior if you don't want to answer, but don't leave the family wondering. I pray to God they're not just constantly pushing pills with no food! This is just sad & bad.

My mom has been there for a few years now. Everytime I interact with any staff, their wonderful and polite to me. I feel comfortable with them taking great care of my mom.
This review is for skilled nursing only. My relative was there a few months ago. Do not put your relative there! There are not enough aides on duty(managements fault) and the ones that are there, many do not like to work hard. There is no backup if an aide doesn't show or calls in. The call system is awful- it is not unusual to take 30 minutes for a quick response and it can be hours or never, depending on who's working. Anything could happen to your loved one during that time. The call light system turns itself off after awhile, are not located by the room and it does not flash or make a sound. Supplies would run out for certain things, and nobody knew where things were or wouldn't stock them. Nurses were always the travelling kind, so no consistency there. On the plus side, although the building is older, the rooms are decent size. The activity lady, Beth was wonderful. We thought the food was very good and the manager and kitchen staff worked hard.
My poor dad would have to wait for someone to take him to the bathroom for way over an hour many times. He said people were rough with him and when his head hit the headboard, they blamed him, even though he had ALS. I am so sorry my dad had to spend his last days in this place. He said the food was like "dog food" and compared the facility to a prison camp. I would call the Executive Director or Head Nurse and would NEVER receive a call back. My dad would have me call the front desk so the aides could be paged overhead as many times, he was left in bed in the morning until AFTER breakfast. One Saturday it was 9:30 am and my dad was still in bed. He had been waiting for 2 hours to use the toilet. Many times my dad was left in his wheelchair for 10 hours at a time. He was supposed to lay down in bed each afternoon to give him some relief from his chronic and intense back pain. To finally escape this place, my dad called 911. It was his last day, and the oxygen tube was not staying in his nose. He couldn't breathe. The ambulance took him to Froedert and he received excellent, attentive, CARING care for his last hours on earth. I am deeply grateful that my dad did not have to pass away in this place. I will add that we DID have a "care conference" with the staff and most things that were discussed there were never followed up on. The staff would not follow through on doctors' orders as well (frequently changing my dad's position, giving him Ensure, and more...)
My dad has been in the RCAC (assisted living) there since September 2022, and I've been very satisfied with his care. I have worked in health care facilities in the past, and currently am a traveling case manager to a number of similar places in the community. So when I give a recommendation/review, you can know that I'm comparing it to relatively wide experience! No care facility is perfect, and we lives in times when staffing and costs of care - for both residents and the facility owners - can be a definite challenge. What sets a facility apart, however, is their willingness to communicate with the resident/family to address any questions as they arise, and problem-solve together when needed. St. Anne's is excellent for this - since day one, social worker Jennifer W. has made herself readily available to us, and my father has been receiving compassionate and dedicated care from nursing staff such as Claudia, Julia, and Pat. I definitely recommend the St. Anne's campus for your loved one's care!
