My dad has been in and out of more than 15 facilities in the last 5 years and his intake went so smooth. The facility had family involved, asked many questions and were on top of some medical issues right away that other facilities ignored. All the staff are very nice and they care. I appreciate all the hard work and care they are giving my dad. I feel confident that he is in good hands here. Thank you all for making this such a smooth transition.

Our mom spent her rehab time for a broken femur during part of the month of March at Southview Acres TCU. The facility itself is clean and well kept. The reason for my four star review is that the care she received early on in her stay was not what we had been promised and we had to work diligently over the course of several days to obtain that care for her in order to avoid another tragic fall. We did try to have a family member present with her during the wake hours of each day during that time as she could not care for herself nor know that she needed to push a call button for help due to dementia. In the beginning, I was told they were short on staff and they were so overworked that they had not had time to look over her care plan in TCU which was very unfortunate because she had special needs that needed attention. In the beginning, it was a frustrating and overwhelming experience but as days went on, their staff was increased and the care improved for which we were thankful. There is an RN that we were very thankful for and his name is Feyissa Obse. He truly cared about mom and made sure she received proper care. If he was working, we knew mom would receive the best care and felt we could stay home and do our day job and not have to be with mom the whole time but still spent part of a day with her most days. The other person we were very thankful for is Shalonda Harper, a CNA who also truly cared and gave mom very good and attentive care. A great thing about Southview is there is a supply of ice cream cups in the freezer and things like instant oatmeal, canned soup, ice water, fresh fruit and other quick little snacks for residents to have throughout the day. The meals were prepared fresh and presented well and seemed tasty. There is a snack brought to residents two times a day including health options like cheese and crackers. They also have a nice care package for the patient upon arrival which includes shampoo, body wash, mouthwash, etc. This is a nice welcoming gift. My advice to those who are considering TCU at Southview is to be sure to block time out of your calendar to stay with your loved one if they are suffering with dementia or cannot do anything for themself for at least the first few days of arrival in case you have a similar experience as we did. If the care is subpar, speak out and advocate for your loved one. They do listen but it may take some time for things to change. They truly seem to want to provide good care but are limited due to the large amount of patients they serve and the limited amount of staff they have. If you have a family member with dementia that needs rehab, be sure to ask if there is a room next to the main desk for your loved one. Our mom was in a room quite a ways away from the main desk. We were told that once a room near the desk opened, she would be moved but a room never opened as far as we know. It all worked out and she is back to her memory care apartment.
Visited my friend first time today. All of the staff was friendly and helpful especially the administrator who helped me carry in some things from my car Cheerful surroundings, friend says the food is better here. Nice and fresh inside.
Timely response for medications are non exiisitent. I have asked for a pain med only to be ignored or passed ln to a different medical provider. BOTH of my legs are broken so in order to ambulate I need pain relief. The nursing staff lie to my face stating I already took the medication when THAT IS NOT TRUE
Thank you for making our parents 70th wedding anniversary so very special. The cake, balloons and many well wishes from Southview staff was such a wonderful surprise and made them very happy. We so appreciate the very thoughtful and kind gesture.
