I did my Certificate IV in ageing support there. The residents are lovely and Bridget, Aether in particular were very helpful and management to name a few. They have quite a few activities during the week each week and reasonable sized rooms and two dining rooms 58 residents.

If there was a minus score I’d select it. The awaiting placement facility is beyond words. Filthy, infrequently cleaned (Eg I watched a used RAT test sit for days in same place in my dad’s room, empty bottles in a cupboard left behind and I could see dust and grime without my glasses on ). The food is appalling, but worst of all the service is practically inexistent! Understaffing is blatantly obvious as is staff that are poorly trained and / or honestly don’t care to do anything. The agency staff palm everything off with “I don’t know, I wasn’t here” etc They say they will attend to something simple you ask for and then disappear. It’s already a distressing situation, shame on them (especially management ) for allowing this and making it worse.
Do not ask for anything. All is fine providing you ‘set and forget’
The stay was recovery from leg injury. From RAH to improve my mobility. The room was adequate of the two bed the one I occupied was electrically adjustable for a remote. The other bed patient was not so lucky no remote but he was not mobile. The room aircondition had to be adjusted to keep the room comfortable. It would not of been but for my alteration of the air con controller. (Persons staying not capable of making adjustments may not be so comfortable). Food was well presented but very small serves with almost no fresh greens served in three week stay. No fresh fruit. Basically no fresh vegetables or fruit is on the menu. The area I stayed was the Hospital floor. A subsequent stay found that a change that the floor were mainly people waiting for permanent placement in aged care but required support. The rooms are now mainly one person now and much less staff. There is a gym located in the building but since the change in type of people not requiring high degree of nursing time of access is restricted due to few physio staff greatly restricting use for the able bodied.
I don’t know their service to ages, but they are not good at communicating with prospective volunteers. We made an appointment for next time on the interview, while they did not send me the link for the police clearance application. Then don’t reply to me when I sent an email for asking the link. However, I went there as the appointment said. Who contacted me not here and the manager promised me will send the link to me, but they lost their reliability again. Don’t waste your time to apply the position of the walking group, the procedure is complicated and cost me over a month to get to the interview. And waste my time to go there twice and still forget to send the link. They do not respect my time, anyway.
