My mother is a resident at South Port Square. It is a clean and comfortable facility with many options for activities etc. - the reason for this review is to commend Carolyn the administrator who has been gracious and helpful with regard to assisting as notary for document signings and providing info as to Mom's contractual agreements with South Port.

Such caring and compassion can be observed on the grounds and in the halls by the Southport Square staff! I always observe happy residents, and I visit Southport Square every week and sometimes more! Highly recommend them! Dawn Brightstar Care RN ADON
The staff is great, but the facility keeps putting money into pickleball courts and landscaping rather than elevator maintenance, the fall hazard of the sloping shifting concrete exiting bldg east into the back resident parking lot. No sidewalks to protect hearing impaired residents, dog walkers, scooters from going down the middle of the road. Cars drive slow, but people stumble into the road and are unaware of traffic. NEED SIDEWALKS.
I am very impressed whenever I visit Southport square. Super friendly residents and staff. Everyone is well taken care of. wonderful retirement place.
My mom was at this rehab center for two and a half weeks. During this time, she had a wound on her leg that was about 1"x2". The wound was black and crusty, it didn't look like a normal scab. I showed the wound to a nurse and told her that it didn't look right, and asked what should be done with it. She agreed it didn't look good and said she would ask the doctor to look at it the next day. My mom was told by the doctor, "It looks great, it's scabbing and healing nicely." The physical therapist would also stop at the nurses station with my mom and tell them that something needed to be done with her wound. Again, my mom was told that nothing needs to be done, it's healing wonderfully. My mom has been out of rehab for 2 weeks and is back in the hospital due to this wound that was healing so well. The black wound that was actually a massive infection has since grown to three times the size. She now has to undergo surgery and have this place cut out of her leg or she could lose her leg from the knee down if the infection is not gotten under control. She is in unimaginable constant pain. I don't know where the doctors that work here went to medical school, but they need to have their licenses revoked. The nurses and physical therapists are amazing and if it weren't for the doctors, this would be an amazing facility. I just don't understand how you misdiagnose a HUGE infection like this.
