Skaalen Skilled Nursing Facility went from 5 stars to 1 (would be zero if an option). My father had surgery and after 2 weeks in the hospital he was transferred to Skaalen Skilled Nursing Facility. After one month at Skaalen his insurance would no longer cover his stay, so we decided to transfer him home vs paying $425 per day for long term care. Five days later my mother and I realized we are not able to properly take care of him and his needs at home so we asked to have him transferred back; Skaalen denied the request stating they didn't have a room (yet there were 8-10 vacant beds when we were there on his floor alone). The part the really bothers us is Skaalen told the Agrace social worker "the family was not satisfied with the care we were providing" which is a straight out lie. We told staff over and over how happy we were with them and they were so good with my father. Both my mother and I called Skaalen administration and left messages asking for them to call us back to clear up any misunderstanding they might have. Skaalen never bothered to return our calls. Obviously Skaalen did not want to care for my father any more, which I just don't understand. Isn't that the entire reason a Skilled Nursing Facility exists? I feel they are bordering on fraud especially since they are Medicare certified. They don't actually want to take care of the sick people they are entrusted with, so I would not recommend them to care for a family member. Update, 05/28/24 response from Skaalen apologizing and asked me to call the administrator to discuss further. However I've already called the administrator and left a message and they never called me back, which is why I posted this review in the first place

I was doing recovery from an injury and living in Skaalen.. There are a lot of nice people. But what ruined it for me is that one night I had a disagreement with a CNA. This blond haired nurse , who was in no way involved started screaming and yelling at me down the patient hall while they were sleeping. After that, I was afraid to go out in the hall in case I ran into her. This nurse was vicious to me and disrespectful of the residents who were trying to sleep. Very unprofessional..
My mother is at Skaalen Heights and has had here hair permed at the Skaalen saloon. Her hair was fried and they refused to do anything or credit her money back. Instead of trying to fix it (which we thought they would do) they just charged her more and it still is a mess. I would avoid having anything done at this saloon if at all possible. Poor care and service. Everything else concerning Skaalen Heights has been great.
I had PT there. Tia and Crystal were great. The pool needs some major updating and the changing room floor are grungy. Nice people though...Id go back if I needed. Also the receptionist is really nice.
My Mom lives here in assisted living. The staff are on top of all of her needs. They promptly inform in any changes in her health and are very caring with her. It is also beautiful and lots of light
