Had an overall good experience with Sheld's Comfort Care. They took in a family member in an urgent situation and Trysta expedited his admission for us and was great to work with. We appreciated that greatly. The staff are competent and friendly. The facility is very nice, rooms are spacious. As with any facility you need to advocate for your loved one since these facilities can often be understaffed, slowing things like communication, paperwork, Hospice follow ups, etc. Overall good experience.

Shields Comfort Care is such a beautiful site! The Administrator, Kristy Tomlinson, took such an interest in us as we toured the facility. She was focused on answering our questions and sharing what the staff and site can offer as we seek the perfect next home and care for our father. The staff on duty and the on-site nurse were amazing as well and so kind in treating my father like he was already part of the family. Highly recommend Shields Comfort Care to anyone looking for a special place for their loved ones!
SIXTH TIME I'VE HAD TO LEAVE THIS SINCE THEY KEEP DELETING MY REVIEW: I have a family member that unfortunately lives at this facility. I would strongly recommend that if you are considering sending your loved ones here, please reconsider. This facility is not only frequently low-staffed (certainly a market component to this, but a safety concern nonetheless for what is supposed to be a LOCKED facility), but the state of the facility is absolutely abysmal. These patients are not groomed. These rooms are not cleaned. These medications are not administered with training or even care. I couldn't tell you how often I come to visit only to see my family member sitting in their room with feces on the carpet, in the shower, around the toilet, or even on their hands and arms because staff have neglected these areas. When I visit, I'm essentially there to work because these things will not be done otherwise. This is supposed to be a LOCKED facility and yet, the lock box in the breezeway is always open with a badge key for anyone to use and enter. I've even witnessed staff leaving doors propped open because they forgot their access badges. Recently, the staff have reported that there was a resident from the long-term side that somehow made onto the memory facility side (which again, is supposed to be LOCKED), and some inappropriate things took place. There was also a former employee that confided in my family stating that there are some staff that make residents take the trash out for them to the dumpster in the parking lot. How can anyone feel good about leaving someone here?
This facility has improved since the new Administrator, Kristy has taken over! She is making it her mission to advocate for the resident’s, and staff! They have a fantastic new RN that was just added to the staff named, Becca! Patient care is her top priority! They have also recently been blessed with a new Activity Director named, Curtice! She makes sure to engage the resident’s in several activities throughout the day, and her bubbly personality doesn’t go unnoticed!
The place is very clean with a welcoming environment. Staff are always smiling and welcoming as well. Miss Kristy went above and beyond and was very helpful. Nice place!
