My father was in a nursing home for more than a year with high dementia and increasing frailty, most recently care level 4. I personally visited him there for longer and longer periods of time every day in his last months and thus gained a very deep insight into the remarkably professional geriatric care work. The extremely friendly treatment of every single patient at all times and even in stressful situations prompted me to volunteer in this home. I have often seen nursing staff there moved to tears when a resident died. The staff there grows closer to the residents. It is heartbreaking how high the quality of the work is carried out despite the sometimes lack of staff. Even the very close and seemingly minute-long care given to my father as he died last week, as well as the sensitive guidance of the relatives through the dying process, were handled with unsurpassable professionalism. The entire staff grows together with each resident as family members. The home actually becomes the residents' new home. After less than a week, my father said “I want to go home” when I went for a walk with him. He meant his room at Carpe Diem... It was an honor for me and my family, thanks to the entire staff. God bless this house.
