My wife and I have been here since August of 2021. We love the help-staff, administrative staff and the residents. Covid brought many difficulties for everyone and was no respecter of Senior Living Facilities. I honestly do not know how management and caregivers managed to cope, during that difficult time. With Covid behind us and new changes including update and remodel of much of the building and some personnel changes, we seem to be well on track, again. We love Sherry Summerville, our new executive director, who I believe to be a miracle incarnate. Many changes have been made this last year and we appreciate all staff, activities directors, medical aides, caregivers, kitchen, cleaning, maintenance and laundry personnel. We call our community "our resort"
An excellent senior living facility. Staff was very informative and friendly. The structure of the organization, activities, accommodations was very well laid out.
I had not looked at reviews since moving into Sellwood Senior Living in November 2022. I recently came across some negative reviews. from a few months ago and feel compelled to share my experience. First, I did my research. I had been an Ombudsman for long term care facilities for a couple of years after retiring from my career in medical office administration. I knew what my priorities were: cleanliness, attractive apartments, a rich calendar of activities for varied interests, and a respectful atmosphere. I have no regrets about my choice. I do not envy the Director, Sherry. Previously there had been a revolving door of Directors. I think she was #4 in two years. (Not unusual in these positions.) Underlying personnel and other problems needed to be addressed. She’s been here a year now and has made good progress. I am quite certain that the worst review(s) are from a disgruntled former employee and not a resident’s relative. Probably Sherry gets blamed for policies and decisions that are out out of her control. Tough job! Overall this is a good community. We have a great group of residents and some excellent staff members. Employee turnover is a continuing problem, here and in the industry. We have lost some good caregivers. I appreciate that I can express my opinion and make suggestions about this and other issues and feel that I am heard. Management meets regularly with Residents to address concerns and help make Sellwood a place we can all enjoy and be proud of.
Love the nursing staff. I have had to deal with a lot of hospitals and medical staff being a huge advocate for loved ones including parents. To truly find those that care is unbelievably rare. Keep this crew around.
