My mom has been here for six months. I give this place five stars and my mom would give it probably four stars. It is a beautiful and cheerful interior and they are over the top with decorating for each holiday. The staff from management to assistance and service is super nice. There have been situations where it took a little longer to get assistance, but everything worked out. My mom's bigger complaint is there is a lot of chicken dishes and she prefers more variety, I would like healthier food options starting with better lettuce for salads. They have all kinds of entertainment and celebrations, IMHO, on a first-class level. It's expensive but compared to comparable retirements, it's better priced than its competition. I did a ton of research. Still five stars for this company!

My father fell in the middle of the night and pushed his emergency button multiple times and no one answered. He then called the emergency number at the facility and let it ring and no one answered. He ultimately almost stopped the bleeding using toilet paper, (he takes Coumadin, which makes him bleed more) and pressure on his arm. It was discovered that his emergency pendent was broken. There has been another case in which an emergency happened and her pendent did not work either. It has not been checked since he moved in over a year ago. This facility has had one problem after another. The staff is transient, the food service never has enough waiters, and one morning there wasn't anyone to cook let alone serve breakfast until after 9 am. I have left a message for the corporate manager of the facility on Monday and as of now, Thursday, I have heard nothing. This facility has been purchased by another company beginning on October 1,2016. I hope that this facility will improve with the new owners. My father likes his room and the other residents, but his experience at Brookdale has not been a positive one.
It's taken me awhile to write this (isn't it true that we are quicker to let people know about the things we do NOT like?). I placed my husband there in memory care in jun of '19. I had visited 11 facilities. I saw only one other place I would consider placing my sweet husband and I could not afford the other place. The staff and leadership at SSP have been wonderful. They have shown real compassion and true concern. I have realistic expectations of a facility and know that it doesn't always smell like roses and that my husband is going to be messy sometimes. I'm there about every other day, so I see a lot of what goes on. I would recommend SSP and told my family that if I ever need to be placed in memory care, this is the kind of place I would want to be.
The staff at Emeritus at Sandy Springs Place provided outstanding care for my mother during her two-year stay in the memory care unit. The Emeritus staff members really care about the residents. When we had a few minor issues over the two years, Emeritus management met with us and resolved them. Best of all, the residents really like the food!
Very disappointed in the memory care facility. Short staffed. Husband was always having to yell for 20+ minutes to get someone to help him to the bathroom. I addressed the person in charge at the facility and was told they were working on getting call buttons installed. That is great, but what about the people that are already there and their needs are not being taken care of. A home health nurse found my husband yelling for help and she could not find an aid anywhere. She said she questions the aid later and her response was "she was on break and doesn't have anyone to cover her". Needless to say my husband is no longer there.
