My 81 year old father has been at Sands Point for approximately a month now. Each time myself and my mother inquire about him getting discharged, they keep "milking the system" by saying that we have to work on his "balance," or have him walk on the "concrete" or anything to that nature, all to collect as much as money as possible from Medicare and Aetna. Next, within the past year, my father was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, and one of the symptoms was swelling around the ankles. Within the past couple of weeks, the swelling came back, which the staff does nothing about whatsoever! Therefore, from my perspective, they care the most about sending their patients to the cemetery and leaving their families with a huge bill to pay, however that's just me.

Tomorrow I will be discharged from SandsPoint Center for Nursing and Rehab and I will certainly miss the wonderful care given to me by the entire nursing staff during my stay. From the button of my heart I truly appreciate the personalized care. I would like to mention a few names of people who were very helpful to me other than the nursing staff such as Vergila from housekeeping and Anthony from maintenance . I also want to express my gratitude to the entire rehabilitation staff who provided excellent services so that I can walk through the front door. Happy And Healthy New Year!! Kind Regards, Beth
Very caring staff. Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Nurses, CNAs were responsive to my mom's needs. She was there for rehab and is now home. Thank you Sands Point Rehab!
My mother was left in her poo and completely wet diaper for a long time without help. She could get urinary track infection the way they ignored the patient. The supervisor Christine had the gut to call me at work and asked me to talk to my mother because my mother walked to the hallway with her walker without assistance. The truth is my mother called for help for a long time but no one came to assist her. The administrators are good. However, they are not the ones doing patient care. The doctor, nurses and nursing assistances are all horrible. They ignore patient’s need and do minimum if possible. My mother had to check each medication before she takes them. The nurses frequently gave her wrong medications. The doctor is horrible too. He never returns phone calls. He does not give the right diagnosis. He put the patient on a medication and never discontinued it even the patient does not need it anymore. Besides the administrators there, the work culture for all other employees is do minimum to get by.
