Nightmare experience! With the exception of a handful of aides, Vinay the P.T.and Eileen who works in the front offices my mother was not taken care of. It has gotten much worse since they’ve been taken over by new ownership.This facility is dirty, the food is awful, they ignore the call bells. People are in their rooms screaming and no one sees to them. Residents get quick cold showers.Occasionally the heat would go off in my mother’s room and in an attempt to fix it they put a sheet on her window so it wasn’t drafty. It was freezing! My mom often sat for hours in a wet and dirty diaper. There was an incident that took place on Christmas Eve where my mom who has dementia was taken to the basement for some type of drill which frightened her to death. I phoned the police and filed a complaint with the state.The home didn’t seem to care. The new head of nursing laughed in disbelief. I am so grateful that I was able to find a better facility for my mom. The elderly should be treated with care and respect. This is not a place for anyone whether you’re on Medicaid or paying out of pocket as mom was! It’s a disgrace.
Staff was amazing, Pam Dean from admissions beyond remarkable. She took care of everything from start to finish for us. I highly advise if you have a loved one send them to San Simeon..
3/20/25 Dear San Simeon Rehabilitation and Assisted care I am writing this letter of appreciation for the entire staff at San Simeon by the Sound Rehabilitation(SSR) and especially Mr. Vinay Penagaluru (Director of Rehabilitation) who was involved in my fathers care while he was a patient at recovering from hip surgery/and an embolization of an brain hemangioma. Mr. Penagaliru was instrumental in in getting my father in to the rehabilitation unit ((SSR)which initially did not want to take him as he could be a difficult patient do to his Alzheimer progression.Vinay through his assessment skills and patience was able to facilitate his successful admission. He was always available by phone and communicated with myself and family before and throughout my fathers rehabilitation therapy and successful transfer home . As a medical professional my self I was greatly impressed with Vinay,s communication skills, compassion and dedication to his profession and wanted to recognize and thank him and his staff for it. My mother passed away yesterday and I am so filled with gratitude for the loving care she received from everyone at San Simeon. I want to thank Sally, Sandy, Denise, Anna, Sue, Eileen, Joyce, Vinay, Courtney, Pam, Dr. Slotkin and so many others. My family could not be more pleased. I’ll miss seeing her and all of you. We’re so thankful for San Simeon and the beautiful service all of you provide to the community. God Bless.
