A great place for veterans & civilian people & they allow the residents to smoke. Joe is very comfortable there with his own room with an ensuite.

If my mum (4 year resident at Myrtle Bank) was completing this review, she would give the daily care teams 5 stars and I would support that completely. My dissatisfaction comes from my dealings with the facilities leadership/ management. I recognise the challenges in the aged care sector (I follow the sector closely), but leaders here just don’t get it! As an example: During COVID) I had to fight for secure boundary fencing so my mum (and other residents) could access garden areas. Here we are - way post COVID crisis and many doors are still locked to residents - despite the promises. Management could benefit from ‘leading by walking around’ rather than from their offices. I challenge the leadership team to spend a day in the life of one of the carers & welfare teams or be just a little courageous and run an occasional family forum discussion. The staff, the carers, the welfare teams, I agree with my mum 5 stars, the leadership… you’ve got work to do!
RSL are doing a wonderful job with provision of accommodation, food and care for veterans and their families.
I volunteer five days a week here, so obviously I highly recommend RSL Care, both at Myrtle Bank and Angle Park. They are nursing homes for Veterans and non Veterans, with some independent living accommodation at Myrtle Bank. The atmosphere at both locations is very much like being in one big happy family.
Staff generally unpleasant including the CE0.Very large turnover of senior staff over a short period of time.Dementia residents given very little stimulation.Moved mother to a much better home. The food was disgraceful and mum was treated disgracefully and her room was filthy as we discovered on moving her.The marble table was caked in sugar attracting ants just disgusting. The main problem is CEO Nathan Klinge who as a former member of the Army does not have the skill set to run a nursing home. HE is belligerent and uncaring and the War Veterans Home needs a CEO with a different skill set. need
