150 Rivermead Rd, Peterborough, NH 03458, United States
I moved to RiverMead in 2016 and have genuinely enjoyed the residents, staff, and atmosphere that make up the community. The campus is set on almost one hundred acres with picturesque grounds and walking trails along the riverfront. You feel surrounded by nature, yet you are only minutes from Downtown Peterborough. There is always a program or activity going on. I frequently use the indoor heated pool for water aerobics, attend structured pool classes, and Sunday Performing Arts Concerts that feature award-winning artists from across the country. As a resident, I feel that my voice is heard, and I am empowered to make suggestions that benefit the community. I have peace of mind knowing that if I need more support, I have the guarantee of on-site care.

My wife and I have been residents of RiverMead for the past four years. We investigated many continuing care retirement communities, but the warmth of the staff at RiverMead stood out. We continue to be impressed by the helpfulness of all levels of staff. This spirit of helpfulness is part of the ethos of the resident community as well. We came here before we “needed” to. This has afforded us the opportunity to take advantage of all that Peterborough and the beautiful RiverMead campus has to offer. This includes walking trails right out our back door, and the music and cultural happenings of Peterborough.… There are a variety of dining areas at RiverMead and the food is excellent. Although we hope we never need them, the assisted living and memory care services are excellent. Many of our friends have a partner receiving those services and have nothing but good things to say about them.
My husband and I have enjoyed life here at RiverMead for 2½ years now. We love the freedom from chores and maintenance issues that is now our lifestyle. It is so liberating to leave on vacation and not worry about the house or yard problems that await us on return. We have discovered that this new-found free time has allowed us to do more hiking, biking, backcountry canoe tripping, kayaking, and travelling than we have ever done and to do it in in this recreational wonderland that surrounds us. The community here at RiverMead is filled with both residents and staff that are warm, caring, and supportive. We have made not only many new friends but also learned to do to new activities. The staff and residents alike are always quick with a smile and a warm greeting. It is wonderful to enjoy the complimentary morning coffee/tea/hot chocolate with both residents and staff in the common area. My nursing career in Home Health and Hospice has taught me to treasure time with loved ones. It is such a pleasure to see couples that can spend time with each other daily enjoying walks, meals, activities, and companionship despite having to live separately (although easily within walking distance down the hall). And best of all – this is our gift to our “kids”. Having cared for both my parents and my husband’s parents through long illnesses, we are very relieved that we are well cared-for here and not a burden to the family. Our time with our family is always devoted to enjoying them – not asking them for assistance with chores or projects. Although we are completely independent at this point in time, we recognize that this can change in a heartbeat. We are confident that here at RiverMead we are prepared for whatever the future has in store for us.
We have lived at RiverMead for 6 years. Our experience has been 100% positive. The activities are varied to suit many interests. The new athletic complex is amazing. And the staff in every department are supportive and always willing to lend a hand.
Meredeth and Leonard moved to RiverMead 11/1/15 at 80 & 84 respectively. We started looking for a CCRC 10 years prior, knowing it was one of life's most important decisions...what form and quality of care do you want till the end of your life? If you select a CCRC model, then the next question is which one, not where. We walked through 35 from Virginia to Maine, 25 made our short list - we followed these ending up with 10 finalists. When we added 'quality and beauty of the area' we eliminated all but RiverMead. Now that we have seen many friends 'progress' from independent living to, say, memory care and finally death and seen the care each has received along the way, we know we made the right decision.
