When mom arrived, she was given a dirty cup with ice. We wanted a private room but she was placed in a room with a lady who would not stay on her side. The nurse supervisor allowed us to have another room until administration came Monday morning. The room was not clean. Ants were on the floor and in the bed, along with trash in the can and floor. We waited almost 2 hours to have the room cleaned, bed remade, and ants removed. Mom became agitated and wanted to go home. We left due to conditions (ants and dirty room) but had to sign a "discharge against medical advice" form. We arrived at 4p and left at 7:47p. They stated the custodian closet was locked, so they couldn't get a broom or supplies to clean. If the room was cleaned and free of ants, we wouldn't have left. It was the weekend so no physician nor administration staff was present to advise us on anything. They didn't want to be liable. Please understand we left under "conditions" that were not conducive, sanitary, or safe for my 84 year old mother.

River View is a very nice rehab/nursing home. It's clean, the staff are very nice and attentive to my father. They take very good care of him. They keep him clean, he gets physical therapy and he says the food is good lol. I was skeptical like everyone else would be when having to put a parent in a nursing home but I can rest knowing he's in really good hands.
My experience with this place has not been positive. Years ago, back in 2016 to be precise, my grandmother spent some time in this facility. She was dying and placed in hospice. One of the difficulties she faced was a damaged and weakened epiglottis resulting in aspirating and pneumonia. With this being said, however, since she was in hospice and dying, the family requested that she be permitted to eat & drink whatever she wanted and be made to feel as comfortable as possible for whatever time she had left. Unfortunately, though, the staff had apparently not been educated on what exactly hospice means... On the day that my grandmother died, I had been there with her for most of the day. And for most of that day, she was miserable. She kept complaining about something being stuck in her throat (which is a symptom of aspirating). To no avail, I repeatedly asked the nurse to do something for her. Each time, her response was, "It's because she keep eating what she don't supposed to." There's absolutely NO excuse for this. We all knew what the recommended diet was for my grandmother but again, we requested that she be given whatever she wanted BECAUSE SHE WAS DYING. The point of hospice is to simply keep the patient as comfortable as possible until they pass. But the nurse on duty that day either didn't care or wasn't made aware of what hospice means. Frankly, she acted like she just didn't care and spoke to me as though I was being irresponsible by letting my grandmother have what she wanted. It has taken me all this time to write a review because I was so LIVID that I needed to deal with my anger before posting. I would NEVER trust this place with another family member. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.
Both of my grandparents have spent time at this facility. Both of my experiences were wonderful. The nurses and aides are attentive and friendly. The doctors truly all care for the residents there. The facility is always clean and well kept, they said the kitchen staff was great and that the food was always delicious. The front office staff was always willing to help and they both came home after their therapy was complete with nothing but nice things to say and any and all equipment they needed waiting for them thanks to the social workers.
I would give no stars at all if I could. My husband was there a few months ago and he didn’t get taken care of like he should have been. The staff there would be late giving him his pain pills or tell that someone locked the keys up so they couldn’t get his medicine. Or that they forgot to order his pain medicine. His wounds were not taken care of properly and they have let him sit in his own feces for 2 hours. He was given pain medicine and a muscle relaxer together at same time. This is the worst place to put a human. They let fluid build up in my husband up to his heart and was only changing the dressing on wound once a day in the morning. It should have been changed 2 to 3 times a day, I was told that by a traveling nurse that was there for just that day and she also came and looked at it as well. My dad was down there a few years ago and he told me that the physician therapist person smacked him and I also had weekend day shift supervisor put her hands on me by grabbing my wrist and told me that I’m not on the payroll, I was just going ask my husband nurse for some dressing to wrap his wound cause no one had done it yet. The weekend supervisor nurse on day shift also made racial remark. I tell anybody who ask me about that place to take your love one somewhere else. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
