MAINTENANCE: I moved into this complex recently and had to place an order with the maintenance department. Rich, the maintenance employee responded to my request the same day. He was very professional, knowledgeable and a really nice person. Whenever I see him, he is continuously working. Because of his work ethnic I feel, I will have no problems in the future, if I had to put in another maintenance request.

My husband and I moved from NYC to Fairhope and into The Retreat at Fairhope Village on July 30th 2024. I've waited this long to write a review because we needed to experience the process, property, apartment and Staff before expressing our impressions. We are giving the Retreat a five star review. The process was involved and thorough ensuring a quality, safe and enjoyable community. The property is beautiful. bordered by a dense forest and located in close proximity to a convenient and well curated shopping area. The clubhouse, pool, workout room and grounds are exceptional. Always clean, inviting and uncrowded. The two men responsible for keeping everything up and running are Rich and Darrell. They could not be more hardworking, friendly accommodating and helpful. Our apartment boasts 9-foot ceilings, a deck, clean lines, modern appliances, hardwood floors and plenty of light. I've saved the best for last, the on-site Staff, Rachel, Rowan and Shaelah. Rowan was our lead representative in welcoming us, guiding us through the application process and answering our hundreds of questions. All three women support each other ensuring that our experience is satisfying and enjoyable, They are never too busy to address our needs. We are extremely pleased that we relocated to Fairhope and chose to live at The Retreat.
Please save yourself and don't move here! Between the roaches and mice, elevators not working, trash all over the place and dog poop everywhere! On top of all that they charge you for things that that no other apartment charges for. and then send you to collections. Management is a nightmare! Will have my lawyer deal with them! They will take all your money. Run!
Firstly, ever so often they send out emails trying to persuade residents to post positive reviews. This apartment complex doesn't deserve anywhere close to the current 3.9 rating they have. One of my biggest complaints are that they never follow through with maintenance requests. I've lived here for over two years and my A/C filter might have been changed three times. No matter how many requests or emails you send they just don't respond. There's a pet problem. Indoor dogs bark and yelp all day with no resolve. Pet owners don't pickup after their pets, so there's dog droppings everywhere. Apparently they cannot do anything about this, but have no issue charging a fee of $25 if you leave your garbage can out past 9:00AM. Shaelah (most recent community manager) has done a terrible job. Darrell and Rich (maintenance team) should actually try following up on maintenance requests from time to time; and realize just because you're on a golf cart doesn't mean you don't have to stop at the stop sign at the front gate. Also, come on the right days and you'll be privileged to see the landfill that is the community dumpster. A complex this size with one dumpster is baffling. Don't be fooled by the pool up front. The buildings are riddled with leaks and condensation from humidity. Before you lease make sure you take a tour of the actual unit you'll be moving into. These people are deceitful and you'll find yourself in a unit that has quite the few flaws and you'll just have to live with them until you move out.
I was very happy with my experience at these apartments. The apartments are well equipped with all modern features and colors. The kitchen has a ton of cupboard space. We had a one bedroom, but the flex room gave it a roomy feel. The management from beginning to end was friendly and efficient. I rarely had an issue, but everything was always handled in a timely manner. They held events throughout the year for residents. Our grandson especially enjoyed their Halloween event. The grounds were always well maintained, and it was usually quiet in the halls and around the complex. Most of the time, we had the elevator to ourselves. We had a very positive experience, and I would recommend this complex to anyone.
