Ah yes, ‘Soul Food Friday’ because clearly, the only thing that defines an entire culture is a plate of fried chicken and collard greens, right? This post is the perfect example of the kind of tone-deaf, stereotypical nonsense that was a daily reality for me at Redstone. It’s almost impressive how comfortable some workplaces are with blatant cultural appropriation and discrimination. But hey, if reducing a rich cultural tradition to a simple meal is how they ‘celebrate diversity,’ then I’m glad I’m no longer a part of it. It’s 2025—maybe it’s time to stop assuming you know what any group of people ‘should’ be eating, and start actually respecting their cultures. I am deeply offended by the ‘Soul Food Friday’ post. It’s important that we stop making assumptions about any group’s culture and work toward an environment that celebrates true diversity and respects cultural identities.

I went to visit a family friend and during my visit I seen they had "Soul Food" at the bistro... IT WAS THE MOST RACIST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN! Fried chicken, greens and watermelon!!! Are you kidding me!!!! You claim you wanted to celebrate black history month, but this is not celebrating. This is profiling! Could you imagine if they wore sombreros and had taqitos and hot sauce and during Hispanic heritage month, like that's not celebrating heritage, that's profiling. Instead they could talk about history, talk about MLK, Rosa parks, Dorothy Vaughn, Mae Jemison, James Derham. Like make a nice pamphlet, teach culture and history. I'm not even African American and I found what they did extremely distasteful! Spread knowledge not ignorance! It's not hard, have common sense! It's 2025!
I came to give interview. I was told to apply again. They did not have jobs for my qualifications. I am in CNA program now. Hopefully will come again as said if not then guide. Thank you Amtul Ala Khan 12/07/2024 Time: 4:34 pm
My grandmother is 92 and was recently hospitalized with Covid-19, then pneumonia, so she was started on hospice, which is how Redstone entered the situation. We have two dogs who are crazy high energy and I told them it gives me anxiety when strangers come over because the dogs go insane. I believe it was Jill who went out of her way to make sure all the home care nurses and aids would walk in without knocking so the dogs wouldn’t get out. They are always available if needed and they are just great, all of them! So, I would highly recommend Redstone!
I would give Redstone Highlands Greensburg 10 stars if I could. Trying to find a suitable skilled nursing facility for a loved one is a very stressful process, especially when the hospital is trying to push any old place on you just to get the patient out of their hospital. The list I was given of skilled facilities had places flagged for abuse or with recent customer reviews showing a drastic lack of attention paid to patients. Redstone was not on their list, but I was familiar with the facility, so I pushed for it. While the hospital was no help, two employees at Redstone were extremely helpful in trying to place my loved one. I am forever grateful because his experience was top notch. Everyone on his care team was so attentive not only to him, but to myself and my other family member who were the proxys for his care. We regularly received status updates, care plans and phone calls when there were updates or medications needed from us. Whenever he'd call for something, a nurse would be right there to help him. The facility was very clean and smelled clean (for a nursing home), he said all of the food was good and some of it was down right excellent, and there was a robust calendar of events for every day. I cannot thank Redstone enough for treating our family member with respect and compassion during a very difficult time. I hope we don't need another facility like this but if we do, I will fight like hell to make sure my family goes to Redstone in Greensburg.
