Secure & well laid facility. Beautifully maintained gardens.
RAAFA Merriwa Estate is a peaceful, attractive gated community. Mostly (over 200) "units" are in reality, small, independent homes, basically duplexes joined at the locking garages. The front lawns and common areas are maintained. There are tennis courts, lawn bowls, and an attractive swimming pool with seated, covered areas. Family welcome with a resident. There is also a heated, indoor, therapy pool which requires a booking. Mailboxes are in the main administration building, which can be a little inconvenient for the less able bodied residents. A doctor visits regularly in the administration building. There is a cafeteria and meals can also be delivered as part of a scheduled service. However, the meals are a little expensive and not very nice when compared with privately arranged home delivery frozen meals. nbn Internet is through the estate, but not fast and sometimes patchy. For independent residents, there are strict community rules, such as no cats or dogs. Watering must be done on schedule, when the water to the yards is turned on. The interiors are painted and have floor coverings all to an approved standard. All costs to live there, maintenance fee, meals, etc. are quite high. There is also a lodge providing more advanced nursing care, and prvate rooms. My mother enjoyed her brief time living there. It is located over the road from a medical complex providing dental, physiotherapy, and medical services. There are shops and a petrol station nearby, and it's about five minutes from Butler shops, hotel, cafes, etc. Caravans and boats can be kept in a common area at one end of the estate, not at the units.
Beautiful nursing home. Wonderful carers, Nurses and admin team. My father loves living there at the home.
