NEVER judge a book by its cover comes to mind. Profit over care is real. If being in an impressive visually lovely " skilled nursing facility" that is grossly understaffed with patients crying for help day and night is your thing, then this is your place. If you or a loved one were recommended to go here for physical therapy or nursing and you love them, fill out the paperwork necessary and get them transferred to a hospital/ rehab facility that actually helps patients recover depending on their special circumstances as soon as possible. No desk person after 5 pm. to answer calls. It took me over a half hour to find anyone working that would buzz me out each night using their employee card, and nobody works the front desk at night to buzz you back in. Everyone should have a patient advocate 24 hours a day, especially here.

If you can get in (if they are not full) do it. I am so grateful for finding Pruitt. They are a whole different ball game. If I need such a facility I hope to come here, myself. Dad got placed here after a Trinity nurse thought they'd be full and not have a bed. There's a reason for that (they are sought after, due to word of mouth experiences, already... and they haven't even been there that long). From the lowest tier of worker there, that is more compassionate and helpful than others, to visiting doctors, the top notch RN that can do short-notice tele-visits with other doctors and perfectly adjust meds of any kind (from diabetes to very apt, effective, modern pain management)... all theses Pruitt people can't be beat or even compared to most. The therapy is amazing esp. compared to others. They have a state of the art therapy gym and they work Dad every day he can stand it. They have already brought strength back to his legs that will serve him so well. If he can come home, great, and if not, then they have already fixed him enough to be eligible for a much nicer and more affordable assisted living facility, now, versus than if he was like he was when we first brought him to Pruitt (most of the better prospects would not have accepted him in that state, totally bedridden). God bless Pruitt's therapists and medical pros for improving his mobility enough to make an enormous difference in all our lives, and toward his prospects from here. Then, the place is clean and beautiful, with mid-century-esque lounges and things everywhere. A nice place to hang out. Some patients even look out windows at a former horse facility that now trains dogs, there, in front of everyone (in the distance, hopping thru rings etc., among horse stables and a little field or meadow). Anyone who can wheel around can see them from certain community windows, at times, and some private rooms' windows even face that way. What a blessing that is for Dad – actually an unparalleled view, of all things (in a private room with no unwanted roommate)! His TV is a Star Trek-like thing on some 5-axis armature that couldn't be more accessible in any condition. There are also activities and a periodic movie in the public lounges. Comfortable for nearly anyone, from social butterflies to hermits. I'd heard horror stories of these places and seen depressing ones. People post reviews when they are upset way more often than when they are pleased. Every facility in existence can struggle to get the best help in the lowest tier yet this place seems to have nothing but amazing people. Anyone with Pruitt complaints hasn't been around the others. Like, at all. If you can get a bed there, do it.
PruittHealth North Tampa Skilled Nursing facility is absolutely horrible. The administrators Reggie and Mitchell only care about making the facility money by bringing in admissions when there aren't enough nurses and CNAs to care for them. They move hours around to deceive AHCA so it appears the facility is adhering to staffing regulatory compliance. Due to the facility being short-staffed, residents aren't receiving adequate care, which is neglect. Residents have the right to be cared for which is oftentimes a challenge when there is no staff to provide the level of care they deserve and are entitled to. The facility is absolutely beautiful, however, the care being provided is substandard. Don't be deceived by the 5-star reviews. The Regional Vice President, Brigham Hodges, gives the facility permission to incentivize staff that writes false reviews. He also only cares about the bottom line, which is making the facility money. He doesn't care there aren't enough staff to support the volume of admissions. His goal is for the facility to operate at full capacity, by any means necessary, to secure his job. Please do your research, visit the facility, speak with staff and resident family members prior to allowing your loved one to reside there.
Our family had a positive experience with PruittHealth, Mitchell and his colleagues, during my mother's stay following an 11-day hospitalization. The skilled nursing care and therapy services she received, including physical and occupational therapy, were very helpful in getting her started on the road to recovery. The staff was caring and professional, providing the support she needed to regain strength and confidence. After her stay, we felt comfortable bringing her home to continue her care and rehabilitation. We appreciate the assistance provided by PruittHealth.
I recently had the experience of having my mother stay at Pruitt Health for one month following her broken femur surgery, and overall, I would give this facility a 4.5-star rating. First and foremost, the facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and beautiful. The therapy and fitness center is by far the best I’ve ever seen in a rehabilitation facility. My mom had a great stay, and I really appreciated the private rooms, which made a big difference in her comfort and recovery. Other facilities we’ve been to simply do not compare to the level of care we received at Pruitt Health. However, what truly sets this place apart is the staff—they make all the difference when it comes to the care of your loved ones. It’s crucial to be present and advocate for your loved one no matter where they are for rehabilitation, and I found that to be true here as well. I want to highlight some exceptional staff members: • Bobby Jean (CNA) – Absolutely amazing! She provided five-star care to my mother and was attentive, compassionate, and professional. • Sunshine (Nurse) – With a name like Sunshine, it’s no surprise that she was a ray of light every time she cared for my mom. Her compassion and kindness were evident in everything she did. • Nick (Director of Therapy) – He was phenomenal in keeping me updated on my mom’s progress and addressing any concerns I had. • Lisa & Shayla (Occupational Therapy) – They were amazing, making a real difference in my mom’s recovery. • Speech Therapy Team – A pleasure to work with, showing both skill and compassion. While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, there were a couple of minor challenges: • Laundry issues – Some mix-ups with my mom’s clothing, but nothing that overshadowed the excellent care she received. • One LPN’s behavior – We did encounter an LPN with a history of complaints who was unprofessional in interactions with patients and families. This was disappointing, and I hope management addresses this issue. Despite these small challenges, I would definitely recommend Pruitt Health for rehabilitation after surgery. If my mother ever needs rehab again, I would not hesitate to bring her back. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team members who made my mom’s stay a positive one!
