I have been to this community several times and I must say it is beautiful! The rooms and amenities are full of thoughtful touches meant to enrich every community member’s experience. Catherine is their Community Sales Representative. She is a true gem and has a genuine caring servant’s heart. I highly recommend this community for your loved one. If I could give less than 1 star I would. My mom ended up in the hospital for sepsis and because of her other health issues it was recommended she look into some type of a care facility that could give her better attention. The case manager was advocating for an adult foster care home stating that she was "on the cusp" of care level needed but never really stated what that meant so we opted to go to Riverwood which was the recommendation of our placement specialist. Clinicals were immediately sent over, we signed paperwork and gave them our credit card to "hold the room". We were told that we could be moving in as soon as this Wednesday. I specifically asked if there were any "deal breakers" after my sister, who is a nurse, was surprised they would let our mom in due to her diabetes alone. I was assured by their marketing and sales person that everything was all good. Nothing was ever mentioned that her diabetes might be an issue and we stopped lookiing around feeling like we had everything covered. It was also recommended that we go to a rehab facility to get my mom stronger but she made so much progress at the hospital, insurance denied her for a skilled nursing facilty at which time we were told by the facility that her blood sugar would need to be managed and at a level of 80-100 before they would be able to accept her. No on ever said including this facility that diabetes would be a deal breaker. Now we are at square 1 trying to find a different place that will take my mom. Moral of the story is DO NOT stop looking for facilities until you have signed paperwork and an assessment has been done. Do not believe them when they tell you there are no deal breakers. Get it in writing. Hopefully this saves a family from losing precious time to find a solution for their loved one.
How lucky I was and thankful I am to have had the experience in finding a relations director like Matt Holton. Matt not only understood the importance of urgency I felt in finding a safe, clean and happy environment in which my mother would feel welcomed and comfortable. He and his staff went above and beyond in guiding and helping myself and family understand and complete the process. With Matt and all the staff which my family and I have had the pleasure to meet so far, we are thankful and much more stress free knowing our mother is in a safe caring environment and still has the feeling she is in control of her life.
Matt Holton was extremely helpful in the intake process and was very available to us as a family. He answered all of our questions and was reassuring about the process. Mom loves the new place, and calls it her "forever home". The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and welcoming. This is a great place, and I'm so thankful we found it.
Decent facility with some high quality employees and some that needed improvements. Originally in 2017 and early 2018 atmosphere was relaxed and laid back. As resident load increased corporate refused to hire additional help accordingly leaving existing employees with excessive responsibility and many ended up leaving or being let go on account of their work quality or were simply burned out. Ultimately residents were left with less than they deserved. Its unfortunate but maybe this review will inspire the company to change some of their business practices.
