The care that our mother received for three years was absolutely fabulous, first class! The entire staff was extraordinarily helpful including all of the aides, nursing, housekeeping, and administration. She created a beautiful community at PSC and our family highly recommends it to others.
My parents spent only about 4 months there. The level of care was never close to what was promised. Westminister is understaffed and caregivers area quick to speak negatively about other colleagues/shifts. No one took responsibility for anything. Sheets and laundry was constantly lost. My Mother wandered from the facility when my Father was in the hospital and luckily was recovered without incident. The food is truly awful. While it was probably a nicer facility about 30 or 40 years ago it appears worn and wasting. There are chunks of rotting wood falling from the large front window frames. Should have been a red flag for me. Not the place it used to be based on reputation. Look elsewhere.
So I visit an elderly couple here a couple times a month. I can tell you that the staff is very friendly, the place is fairly clean and tidy. The rooms are small but cosy. they have activities here and a big dining area for those who aren’t confined to their rooms. This couple would rather be home, but are happy with the service is here. It is very expensive, when they die all their money will basically be gone (he told me), but you can’t take it with you.
PSC provided a safe, healthy, enjoyable environment for our Mother to live the last couple years of her life, making new friends, taking pleasure in daily activities and entertainment but most of all, the loving care of her caregivers on the second floor, in particular Heidi and Sue.
