My husband is currently a client at The Pines. He loves the staff, his needs are ALWAYS met & his room, as well as his clothes, are always clean. Food services accommodates to medical needs, too. I visit many times a week at different times of the day. After caring for him at home for almost 3 years, I have advocated for him to receive the best 24 hour care possible, along with outside services that he is qualified to receive. His medical needs are great and staff has always taken care of each and every one. It is as "homey" assisted living, that encourages family, friends & pets to visit. I am very happy with the care my has been given since his placement on July 2nd.

The only reason I gave it a1 star is because of some of the aides. They really care about you and will do anything to keep you comfortable. The management is HORRIBLE and no one has answers to your questions or follow up. They don’t give you all the information up front and hit you with a hefty fee once you are a resident there. I’ve asked on two different occasions for a receipt and proof that I paid multiple times with no follow up. I just get the run around. I also asked for a different bed since the hospital bed I was in didn’t function and was very old. I slept in my wheelchair with my head on a table. It was trashed after I finally got a regular bed (two weeks later) but was charged for it even though it wasn’t the one I was renting and paid for. I was still getting charged for the bed for months after I left the facility. TV service took over 3 weeks to get hooked up and many excuses why it wasn’t done. HR is horrible!!! Insurance claim was never done either. I tried to contact main office about my stay there and received no response from them either. This facility doesn’t care about the residents and only care about getting a paycheck. Would highly, highly recommend going somewhere else.
I will not recommend this place to anyone. These are some things that I witnessed firsthand: Poor management, only one staff member per shift, sometimes at night zero staff!, front door was always unlocked! -not safe!!!, no locks on residents doors for privacy, horrible food, no cook- just staff members who cooked up something, and hardly any activities for the residents. Overall a horrible experience for my loved one😔. We ended up moving her to a nice and loving assisted living in Imlay City instead.
I love the residents at The Pines! I always have fun stories to share when I get home at night. I'm excited for the new employees being trained right now!
Some of the staff was good but the management was horrible! I would not recommend this facility to anyone. They never had appropriate staff coverage. 10 to 12 residents with only one staff member in the building, not safe! Very few activities and other services.
