Ozanam Hall is the third rehab facility my mother has been to in the last 10 years and it is the best one. She is now a permanent resident at Ozanam Hall since May and I would only want her here. The staff is excellent with her. The aides take great care of her, especially regarding the bathroom. My mother is busier now than when she was at home. There are activities every day, and they have a mass that the nuns take her to! I love the nuns! They are so compassionate with the patients. The nuns have a little dog, a rabbit, three cats, and two mourning doves at the facility. The place is very clean. They have a great big garden to sit in when the weather is nice. The location, parking, and food are good. I am very thankful for Ozanam Hall.

Sooo much lack of communication between the staff members and they absolutely cannot handle their work. First off I was told that my mother’s aid services have been all sorted at the time of discharge. She is a last stage cancer patient and I work full time. Due to lack of communication and POSSIBLY the staff being overwhelmed I am now home with my mother whom can barely get off the toilet seat by herself and no home health aid because the proper paperwork was not done nor provided to the home health aid agency. What in the world?!!! I’ve left multiple messages and absolutely nobody has called back! Secondly I requested 3 times in a matter of 1 week to do my mother’s laundry as the clothes had been labeled to get washed in the facility itself as it was getting difficult for me to take home clothes, wash them, and bring them back everyday. ALL nurses agreed to handle it and get it done. The nurse that was taking care of my mom lied about not being requested to put my moms clothes out for laundry. Tuesday night she told me at the front desk I’ll get it done! WTH ?! So my mother, the day of discharge was sitting there waiting to go home in a night suit! with no pants on! and absolutely all of her clothes were in the dirty laundry bin. Some of the nurses are so damn mean! They all play the blame game and absolutely do not want to be held accountable for what they are doing wrong and their responsibilities 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ absolutely a mess in there !!! Do not leave your loved ones there. It’s a mess!
I normally wouldn’t leave a review but I feel that this one is necessary. I came to this facility from October 2024 to February 2025 . I visited about 3 to 4 times a week . Most times I’m sure I wasn’t even noticed but I always observed everything. I have to say that despite the staff being low staffed sometimes to the amount of patients they had they were always so sweet, pleasant and most importantly attentive. They treated the patients like family . I always saw them sitting with patients feeding them when they wouldn’t feed themselves. I have to truly commend the staff because no matter how difficult the patients may get they were always so sweet and professional. To the entire 5th floor , you were amazing and deserve to be recognized. Thank you for all that you’ve done!!!!!!
Covid and flu outbreak on two floors..my mom and her roommate have Covid …am not happy…my mom is in r here for rehab..will post another review in more detail..giving them one more day to address my issues..I agree with those who posted a negative review . Updated again… march 12 ..am going to report this facility to New York State and Medicare…just got off phone with Dr byrns..he lied to my face on phone ..saying hospital put her on certain medication….they didn’t… ozanam changes around your loved ones medications without speaking to family..hospital assured me she will have script for pain medicine..he put her on one that does not work for her..… administrator never responded to emails cc to her and neither did nursing director.. DO NOT PLACE loved ones here.. Social worker hasn’t done crap…she just has excuses .. Updates march 13th ..still no response from administrator or nursing director…besides aides, nurses, being rude and nasty ..my mother only got one shower in 6weeks…they leave you in soiled diaper panties for hours ..they lie to you …forget about anyone calling you …this place is bad..food is disgusting … during Covid outbreak..some staff and patients not wearing a mask ..especially some that came into her room.. My mom and her roommate lost a week of therapy because they had Covid from the outbreak.. Updated..After owner response.. Why bother going to administration..when the same negative things are still in place… one or two nurses and aides rude and nasty..clothes are missing….went to head nurse on her floor..spoke about the rudeness ,nastiness and missing items..one or two aides or nurse still nasty ..haven’t heard a response from social worker on my grievance about the clothes… in fact no response to any of my emails..brief phone call once..brand new clothes..who’s going to reimburse me ..and a lot more stuff..some medication was wrong upon admission from hospital…not ozanams fault BUT .nurse was rude and nasty when I was trying to straighten it out..clinically more issues..which had to have someone intervene to do right thing…bed phone not working properly ..yet nurse nasty and instead of giving me a number to call ..rudely said I’m not technology I’m a nurse call front desk tomorrow and get Charlie’s number…WTH...ummm..don’t have his number on the floor to address your own equipment issues..unprofessional and unacceptable..I need to reach my mother ..whole purpose of med Pat phone..she’s 91 and not a cell phone person even though she has one …if you can’t have compassion and dedication and not be lazy ..dont work in healthcare..she doesn’t ask for help or bother nurses or aides unless she really needs something which is not often..she is very independent…so these people need to remember why they are working there..other issues …but I think is safe to say ..I regret putting her there ..I went with sister-in-law’s recommendation because her mom was treated good and had great care…and it’s the same floor…well..obviously…it has changed ..especially seeing all other negative reviews…more issues ..but ..I will address them..pretty disappointing from a place run by nuns ..
My mom was at Ozanam Hall for the final chapter of her life. Although she wanted to die at home the care and attention from the staff was outstanding. From the nurses, aides, social workers, PT staff and Drs. all surpassed any expectations. The facility itself is clean and well maintained. The communication was always available. I am broken hearted from the loss of my mom but I thank all at Ozanam for all their efforts.
