I thoroughly enjoyed working at this facility! The DON Toddy was very responsive and an advocate for her nurses. I liked that she runs a tight ship, as you HAVE to in long term care as the regulations are strict. I enjoyed working with the other nurses and CNA's on the memory care unit. Hearing the connections staff made with residents, was heart warming. The pay was mid, but the staff to patient ratio completely makes up for this. The scheduler is a sweet person too! She was always kind. The activities that are run are loved by residents. There are amazing agency nurses that work in this facility in addition to regular staff. I got to meet so many neat people from all over the states! So why did I leave? I was a casual call nurse and had to find a full time day shift position, and Oakridge did not have a position at the time. I would return there in a heartbeat! People that have left poor reviews need to reflect. Thanks Oakridge Gardens for giving me the opportunity to work there!

I can’t say enough good things about this building. The management is very involved in care and always available. The staffing coordinator is incredibly understanding and accommodating of life and hiccups in the road. The DON started a few weeks before I did last year and has improved the building/staff. She educates so much and you can see the benefits. I’m a travel nurse and I’ve been here for a year with another year signed on! No nursing home is perfect but this one cares a lot about doing right by their staff and residents.
The management at this facility is rude to the residents and her employees. I believe Toddy is her name, she's rude and yells and her employees, she demands her sick employees to go to work. If an employee is sick and has a doctor note why would she demand them to attend work where the residents at the facility can catch what her sick employees have, makes no sense. Also it seems like the same employees call in sick all the time and there is no doctor note needed to prove they are sick and no repercussions are taken for these employees that have numerous call-ins. Hopefully someone in higher management looks into these issues!!!
The nurses who have compassion, love, and care deserve 5 stars. The nursing director who stated "Let's just get her out of here as soon as we can." rather than follow the date ordered by the GP during a discharge conference deserves none. My mother was treated like dirt at Oakridge, we had to fire Dr. Schreiber before she lost all hope, he almost got her home and benefits taken away to "incapacitate" her (that's all he cared about- not rehabbing her or figuring out how to work with her medical trauma.) My mom was discharged with no medical supplies ready at home, without a sling for the lift that fit, because they didn't want to deal with her anymore. Or me. When I stated we had no supplies yet, they ignored us. She was discharged as well by ignoring orders to get her nephrostomy tube changed out and replaced, and get ME the supplies needed to take care of it at home. Because of that, she spent 8 hours in the ER less than 2 weeks after discharging because it's coming out of her body. They punish people for medication side effects. They don't value patient autonomy or independence- for her they were dishonest about some of the meds she was being given, and they wouldn't allow her to have her electric wheelchair. She would wait for hours sometimes to get a drink. She was paralyzed and was unable to move herself in a manual wheelchair. I had to beg for her to even have it the day she went home. Please don't send a loved one there. Avoid Dr. Schreiber at all costs!
My brother is there for rehab. Everyone is so nice. From the physical therapy occupation staff nurses ,cna, laundry staff , office staff and housekeeping . They answer all our questions and keep us in the loop as to how he is doing. His room is always clean and his cloths are washed and brought back The physical therapy and occupational people are great and makes sure he is doing his exercises so he can get strong. So he can resume his life independently. Again. I must add he does like the food too. .I have to admit I did see some bad reviews i was concerned but our experience has been very positive.
