Memory Care done right. In addition to all the other fine comments listed below, I will add: 1) Excellent staffing by caring professionals. Grace Lewis, the Executive Assistant Director, works hard to give the caregivers the schedules they want. She staffs up during busy times, so the caregivers are not overworked nor are they exploited. She doesn't use a temporary service. There is a cheerful calmness that permeates Northwoods. 2) Northwoods has its own 15 seat bus. Alissa Pringle lives up to her title of "Life Enhancement Director" by planning awesome activities once or twice a week. In the winter, the bus goes to the Rookery, a nearby gym, so in addition to Walking Club, residents get out. They also have gone bowling, gone to Dollar General, coffee shops, and apple orchids. Those who can't go, Alissa visits and brings little souvenirs of the day. The Activity Schedule comes out monthly with the meal schedule. Love it! 3) Sherri Lewis is a RN so there is nursing stability and guidance for families. So important. 4) There are family events at major holidays so families can meet each other. They build community. 5) Excellent food. You can tell when you walk in - you will be taken cared of as well as your family member. It allows you to spend quality time with your loved one. I am so grateful this place exists. 2)

Northwoods provides exceptional care for my mom and the other residents! As an RN in the senior care industry I was delighted to find such a wonderful place for my mom. They truly provide personalized, attentive care and go the extra mile to work to meet the needs of the whole person. The Lewis family (owners) are gems & set the example for the staff in providing loving, excellent service. The building and backyard overlooking the wetland are beautiful places for resident activities and families to spend time together. There is truly a team spirit and joy there. We are so grateful for the staff, their patience, & all the TLC they provide!
Making the decision to move your loved one into memory care is not an easy one, for sure, but the BeeHive Homes of Blaine family made that decision clear for my family. After visiting several facilities, we knew BeeHive Homes of Blaine was "it" as soon as we met the owner/operators Kyle and Sherri (even before the facility was fully finished and open for business). Their passion for the home they built and the residents they intended to care for was palpable. They worked endlessly to help my mom transition (not easy for anyone) and ensured her safety was #1 priority. The facility is beautiful, the staff are amazing, caring, passionate, skilled workers who love and care for the residents as if they're family. The activities are great and inclusive, the food is...let's just say my mom, who is not a big eater, has gained 5+ pounds since arriving. Must be the fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies! :) The entire staff at BeeHive Homes of Blaine go above and beyond to care for my mom, leaving me total peace of mind knowing she's exactly where she needs to be. I highly recommend this facility for anyone with progressing memory care needs.
We looked at a lot of memory care facilities before we found Beehive (edit: now Northwoods). While many others appeared good on the surface and would meet our needs, we often had an issue--a red flag, perhaps. We like the model of smaller, owner-operated facilities like Beehive. Beehive's owners don't answer to some corporate manager who wants to minimize "salary burden" and maximize profit. Instead, they run their home like they believe it should be run. Although Beehive in Blaine is new, Kyle and Sherri have dedicated their careers to caring for elderly, so they bring a wealth of experience, passion for their work, and compassion for their residents. Communication has been excellent, and they have first-rate care-givers on staff. The Director of Nursing (co-owner Sherri) is closely involved in the care, monitoring changes and challenges, and communicating with family.
We looked at many homes for my mom, visiting about half a dozen, and found plusses and minuses in every place. The decisive factor in our choosing Beehive of Blaine was the ownership team of Kyle and Sherri. We simply trusted them more, and they have delivered on that trust, particularly in the staff they have assembled. Plus, it's a wonderful facility that's close to stores, clinics, pharmacies.
