Northstar Square has been a godsend for our family. My Father died last August, leaving the family to care for my 86 year old Mother. (They had been married for 65 years.) After reviewing several local Assisted Living facilities, I chose NSS. Mom has a beautiful apartment (full kitchenette and a lot of storage), safety enhancements in the bathroom, windows with a lot of natural light - absolutely perfect for her. The staff are caring and compassionate. They check on her regularly and administer her medication. And, Mom loves the food - which is so important to elder health. Cathy David, Food Service Director does an amazing job planning not only nutritional, but great tasting food. Recently, the facility has been undergoing renovations to the common areas, and it looks amazing. We love North Star Square and feel blessed to have found such a perfect environment for Mom!!!
My mom has been in assisted living here for 3 months. She’s happier here than she was at home with me. The socialization with other residents has been great for her. She’s enjoying the independence. Her favorite time of the day is Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!! The food is very good. The Food Service Director, Catherine Davis, is outstanding. She try’s to accommodate the residents food preferences as well as ensure their nutritional needs are met. Miss Cathy goes above and beyond. She spends one on one time with the residents outside of mealtime. She’s part of the community at Northstar. I’m very appreciative of Cathy, all of the food service staff, nurses and aides. Northstar Square has heart. I’m grateful!
This was my Mom’s last home before she passed away last month. This was very different from her previous assisted living community that was newer and had more amenities, but the care she received, and the compassion, concern, and love that was shown to her in her brief time there, and especially in the days prior to her transition, was unparalleled. Additionally, she loved the food and she also loved the residents and the staff (who thought highly of her and loved her back), and she would joyously tell me about her day and the wonderful things she experienced on a daily basis. I am grateful for Northstar Square and for all that they did for my Mom in her brief time there.
My time at Northstar Square (I'll just say Northstar after this) has been a great experience. The residence is clean, well kept and the staff works to keep it that way. One of highlights of life here at Northstar is the food. The meals are always good to eat and good to look at. The chef Catherine Davis, who is also the Food Service Director, makes sure that the food is properly prepared and plated in an appealing manner. She keeps up with dietary restrictions for all of the residents. All of the staff are attentive to our needs and go out of their way to make our lives here as positive as possible. Everyone from those who clean, the CNA'S who help with everyday life to those in management positions give us their attention and listen to our feedback. We have a food service monthly meeting presided by Catherine Davis (we call her Miss Cathy) where we discuss our meals and offer suggestions for adding or removing foods, give positive and negative feedback on the way things are going
