This facility is scary. When I first arrived everything was good. As the days progressed things got worse. Nurse's were either good or very bad. No in-between food, what can I say when I first arrived food was Hot and nutritional as the days went by it got worse. No more balanced meals. They became full of carbohydrates and little protein. Breakfast became pancake, sausage tea or coffee no longer any fresh fruit. Spoke to dietician few times and promised improvement. Still waiting. On the good side physical therapy is great. They take their time and make sure your improving. Wound care came by to check sore and treat. No other activities to speak of. When comparing area nursing homes unfortunately this Place is one of the better ones. Good luck

My mother is there for dementia unfortunately this is the only place I could get her into. Everyone has been pleasant, nice and professional but I had an experience over the phone with a nurse (which I have the up most respect for them they have a hard job day in and day out) but I was informed by this nurse that I was the only one that does not call there mother and there is a reason for that bc it's a constant battle of I want out of here (which can't be done). The nurse continued to inform me that she gets hit, yelled at and spit on by dementia patients. That's not my problem and this is the field you chose!! That just blew me away being talked to like that. I feel guilty enough putting her in there I did not need to hear that!!! Very unprofessional!!! It would also be nice to keep the dementia patients active bc she tells me she is bored. Makes me feel worse for putting her in there. Sad situation. I'm sorry mom I do love you ❤️

My daughter Nicole, who was 45, had a long history of a terminal brain tumor and was sent to NHM for rehab in January 2024. Unfortunately, we found out not long after her being there that the brain cancer had progressed and she was placed on hospice. It's easy to complain about this and that, especially during such an emotional and vulnerable time, but the fact is, like most places, they are understaffed, BUT generally speaking the staff did a good job in their overall care of Nicole. Family members were able to stay with her pretty much around the clock as needed. Kemily, Speech Pathologist, was excellent in her assessments and tips for care as it became more difficult for Nicole to communicate and swallow. The physical therapists, Steve and Leo, to name a few, continue to work with Nicole even as she continued to lose function. Some of the aids were exceptional. Shout out to Denise, Shavon and Gus. I know there were others but those are the names I remember. Also some great nurses like Judith, Crystal, Amanda, Philip, Michael and Joy the DON who worked behind the scenes as needed to make sure that we as a family and Nicole as a resident had what we needed. Special thanks to April who I worked closely with to ensure Nicole’s transportation and who helped in the organization of her care with JHH. April was also very empathetic (as were many others) to this very sad situation. Many people at NHM were quick to give hugs and just really showed they cared. Judith was the RN the night and morning of Nicole's passing and she was of great comfort to our family. Speaking on behalf of Nicole’s family which included her loving four children, her four siblings, her parents and the many other family and friends who spent time with Nicole during her stay we are all grateful for the care she received during her stay. I apologize if I didn’t mention you by name, but with few exceptions the majority of the staff was very helpful and receptive to our requests for Nicole’s comfort. The morning Nicole passed all the employees lined up to pay their respect as we, as a family, exited the building. This tribute made our family feel very grateful for the acknowledgement of the passing of our beloved Nicole.
While there are certainly caring people who work here, it is an absolute cluster of management and purpose. Absolutely no coordination among the staff; no one knows or seems to care who's on first. "It's not my job" might as well be the mantra. For many it just seems to be a JOB, no care or compassion or calling required. My mother is there now and wow. No one communicated the game plan for rehab so there really cannot be an exit plan which may be the plan. 💰💰. She has repeatedly asked for information concerning her care and was told she can walk down to the reception area to view her info. (note that she is in rehab for hip surgery and is in rehab to gain strength to walk). SERIOUSLY??? To make matters worse, a rough nurse just trying to move to the next patient hurt my mom and she lost days of rehab which should be restored to her because that injury stopped her progress!! Please stop hiring people to fill a slot. If you lack the patience, skill and care to work in this field, don't apply and please don't hire these clock punchers.
