I am thankful for the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury. This place is truly a Home. They have a professional team of Nurses, CNAs , Physical & Occupational therapists, etc. who truly care and provide quality services to meet the needs of each individual patient. The office staff is available to help you if you have any questions or needs They also have a Veterans Service Officer who can assist you with coordinating issues with NC State, federal Dept of Veterans, and Pruitt Health issues. The food there is very good & nutritious and they have a dietitian who works with the resident and family to prepare a meal plan. They also provide them with snacks and special treats. During the holidays they have special luncheons for family members to attend with them. They also have events for family & friends to participate in with them all year-long. When visiting, there are many areas around the Home to spend time in - both outside or inside. The grounds are well kept. They have an excellent activities department that offers many different activities they can choose from. They have a new game room. Special guests come at various times to entertain them. The facility is very clean. The housekeeping staff does a great job. They also have a great laundry service that labels and keeps their clothes clean. Visiting the Home is always a special time for us. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful. The employees have a very important job taking care of our loved ones. Overall, I am very satisfied with the home and the care my loved one is receiving at the NC State Veterans Home. I hope they know how much they mean to me and my brother, who has been in the home for a little over 2 years. Donna Overcash

We got our 91 year old dad to this facility after being in a memory care facility, the hospital and two rehabs. Our expectations were not high because of our prior experiences at the other places. From our first interaction with NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, we were extremely pleased. From the smiling faces that always greet us at reception, to the nurses, CNAs, and all the staff, we always feel seen, heard, and our needs addressed. If there is a problem (as there will be), the communication and effort to get it resolved is there. Most of the staff goes above and beyond what is expected. There is kindness and an overall feeling that our dad is being well-cared for, which is such a relief! Also, this facility is so clean! No urine smell, no soiled clothing laying around, just clean! I am grateful that we got our dad here and so appreciative to the staff for the care they take of all the residents.
We are incredibly Blessed to have such a great care team for my Dad. They have gone above and beyond to try help both dad and us through this transition. The physical therapy team is also very loving and compassionate .
My dad is in this facility. It was a very hard change for him losing is independence. The staff quickly understood his unique needs and built trust thru acts of kindness and compassion. He has been there now for over a year. I have the utmost confidence in those who care for him.
EVERYONE has been so helpful, thoughtful & as nice as they can be. They take such good care of the Veterans!!! I've never seen or heard one bad word from anyone towards the men!! They take such great care with their comfort & care!!! I love this place! God had a plan for my husband after taking nearly 3 months to find a place for him when this home came into sight!!! It takes me a very long drive to go see my husband but I'm greeted as if I am family and they truly mean every sweet, kind word uttered to me!!! This was the best decision for my husband who served over 30 years in the Airforce!!!
