The entire team at No Place Like Home is incredible. It is difficult to put into words the ways this company helped our family quickly create a calm and safe environment for my Aunt who quickly declined (hospice) without getting emotional- but I will try. The best adjectives I can come up with are: Efficient, Qualified, Empathetic, and Caring. Communication/Customer service with Irene and Samantha ensured that our aunt was assessed quickly. They listened to what our needs were. Home health aides were scheduled quickly as well. They are easily available via phone, email and text and respond quickly when you need a schedule change (ex- more hours). The home health aides were amazing as well. They were respectful, knowledgeable, and kind. If it wasn't for them- I don't think our Aunt's passing would have been as peaceful and as pain free as it was.

I cannot say enough good things about Irene and No Place Like Home. My aunt developed dementia and was living with my mom. When caring for my aunt threatened mom's health, Irene jumped in, making appointments for me to meet with a number of care facilities close to my home, so I could take over my aunt's care needs. She found us the perfect place. Small, caring, dedicated staff, with availability and a price we could afford. She continues to follow up with me, checking not just on my aunt, but also inquiring about my mom's health following the move. Irene is one of the most dedicated and compassionate people I've ever worked with. I refer her to all my friends and clients, when I they tell me the trouble they are having finding a place for their loved ones. I know my aunt is safe and well cared for now, and I will forever be indebted to Irene for helping me.
If you believe in "angels on the ground," keep reading. This review is for caregivers who feel overwhelmed or paralyzed by their routines. If you're caring for a beloved family member or friend and need support to regain flexibility in your life, look no further than No Place Like Home Senior Services. I became my mom's primary caregiver when she was diagnosed with dementia ten years ago. Support was manageable for several of those years, but things changed when I lost my trusted neighborly assistant and help from immediate family in the fall of 2023. I was grinding away without thinking about how to get the help I needed to care for mom. You get in a groove or routine and do what you do to make it work, and that can be dangerous for the caregiver. I was emotionally paralyzed, unsure of where to turn for assistance. Then an “angel on the ground” or should I say “angel on the air” spoke to me one morning in February while driving to work. I heard Irene Brooks, owner of No Place Like Home Senior Services, being interviewed on a local Triangle radio station. As she described NPLH's mission and services, her enthusiasm and genuine empathy for caregivers felt as if she were speaking directly to me. She explained the respite care process and she mentioned how she can assist with finding facility-based care... at no cost! NPLH charges an hourly rate for respite care services ONLY. I emailed Irene immediately, and within four hours we were chatting on the phone. Throughout our conversation, she never rushed me or suggested we wrap up; it felt like my time was her priority. I came away with all the information I needed to get help. A few days later, Irene and her nurse, Stephanie, visited us in mom’s apartment. It was a great meeting and we decided to contract NPLH respite caregivers for 12 hours a week (3 days x 4 hours each). Irene’s caregivers are exceptional; she takes great care in matching the right caregiver(s) to each individual. From early March to mid-August, their support allowed me to regain balance, and time to breathe and manage work and life without feeling like I was abandoning mom. We established a regular structured schedule, but I always had the flexibility to customize it as needed, whether it meant being away for a couple of days or adjusting for any gaps in coverage. When mom's condition began to worsen in June and worsened even further in late July, it became clear she would soon need more care than NPLH and I could manage together. Irene provided information on assisted living options, and ultimately made an appointment for me to visit a facility in Durham. That facility checked all the boxes, and in mid-August we moved mom into that facility only four miles from my home. Things were moving quickly, and Irene's constant availability was comforting when I needed to discuss the various things that determined our decision. Even after ending formal services with NPLH, Irene still checks in with me via text or email. I can't express enough how essential her support is. She's kind, compassionate, smart, and a great listener. Most important, she will be honest with you on every level, and I learned a lot about myself as a caregiver and as related to mom's care. If you need help, contact Irene at No Place Like Home Senior Services. You won’t be disappointed.
My dad needed help with laundry, light cleaning and food. He also couldn’t drive anymore and needed transportation to his dialysis appointments. I cannot say enough good things about No place Like Home. The person that was chosen to take care of my dad, Tenisha was absolutely wonderful. She was easy going with him and spent time talking to him which he truly enjoyed. No Place Like Home was also very accommodating with any time or day changes that were required. If you have a loved one that wants to remain at home as long as possible I highly recommend this company. Very compassionate people!
Irene and her team are absolutely fantastic!! From the care of your loved one to the support of the family, it has been a wonderful experience.
