I looked at many facilities before picking New Perspectives Waukesha. Working with Suzy I knew this was going to be the right place for Mom. I even went on vacation and knew that she would be taken care of while we were gone. The Wellness Director, Regan, Executive Director, Halle, Activity Director Hanna have been amazing to work with. Their professionalism and care for my Mom has exceeded my expectations. Even when we had a bleeding issue, Regan was there for us and helped in every way possible, making me less stressed. I know that all facilities have their issues and none are perfect, but I know that here my Mom is getting the best care she could be. I highly recommend New Perspectives in Waukesha and have recommended this facility to many of my friends.
I moved here in October 2020. I wanted to move to a senior community for my safety and to be around others. I like the people, and they are very friendly. I like to make crafts and hand them to the staff and my neighbors for appreciation gifts. I have made many friends and like being involved in the activities. Regan is the best addition for the nurses. My goal every day is to make someone smile at New Perspective Waukesha.
Everyone is so friendly and helpful. My father lost his wife and sold his home out of state. When he came to New Perspective Senior Living community, he found friendship and a senseofbelonging. It made his move so much easier. It's a wonderful place!
Update 05/09/2025: When you read New Perspective's response, you may believe that my father's return was something they were unprepared for. The fact is, their Health and Wellness Director evaluated my father, while he was still in rehabilitation, before he returned to New Perspective. She assured us they could care for my father in their CBRF area, and even provided a 7-page Care Plan. Their Care Plan turned out to be a work of fiction, as they provided almost none of the care described in it. As for contacting New Perspective to discuss my concerns, I had already voiced my concerns to the Executive Director and her staff. There was never any significant improvement in my father's care. I'm not sure what good it would do to discuss my concerns, now that my father is no longer at New Perspective. New Perspective - Waukesha looks like a very nice place, but as my father would say, "Don't let the paint job fool you". If you can care for yourself, and are fairly independent, you're probably going to be okay there. Although, regardless of whether you're independent, assisted or in memory care, the food and dining experience leave much to be desired. My father moved to New Perspective - Waukesha a month after it opened, at a time when he was independent and able to care for himself. In December 2024 he suffered a stroke. After a couple months of rehabilitation, he returned to New Perspective - Waukesha. Unfortunately, he was no longer able to care for himself, and needed assistance, so he moved to the CBRF area of the facility. Only then did we learn that the assistance my father needed was almost non-existent. Most of the "Caregivers" that staff the CBRF area of the facility are very inexperienced and are largely unsupervised. While my father was in their CBRF area, I witnessed most caregivers with their faces buried in their smartphones, and in some cases, sleeping in the common areas. The pedants given to the residents, in order to call for assistance, are a "crap shoot". A caregiver may or may not show up, and if they do, many times they are visibly annoyed at having to provide assistance. The caregivers had a little trick to avoid giving assistance, without it being detected by the response time monitoring system in place at New Perspective - Waukesha. The caregivers would sometimes respond quickly to an assistance call, but would clear the call with their ID card and indicate they would return with help. Many times they would never return. It would appear in the system that they responded quickly, but sometimes never really provided any assistance. As a result of almost non-existent assistance, which my father was being charged for, I actually cared for my father for the month and a half he was in their CBRF area. That was 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, I had to hire a private caregiver to care for my father during the overnight hours. That was an additional 12 hours a night, every night, at great personal expense. After a very stressful and exhausting month and a half in the CBRF area, we were finally able to move my father to a skilled nursing facility where he's now receiving the appropriate level of care he needs. I would like to point out that most of the more recent reviews here describe very similar experiences to ours. The better reviews here are years old, which would seem to show a decline in the level of care residents are receiving at New Perspective - Waukesha. Some of the reviews are from people that have only experienced independent living at New Perspective - Waukesha. But if you doubt what my review points out, or some of the more recent reviews here point out, just check out the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Quality Assurance. There are Statements of Deficiencies that can be viewed at the forwardhealth.wi.gov website. Very enlightening indeed. I wish I would have viewed these reports before sending my father there. I would encourage anyone considering placing a loved one at New Perspective - Waukesha, to look elsewhere.
