While everything seemed to be great when I moved my mother in to New Perspective Senior Living in Howard a little over one year ago, things gradually fell apart quickly. I began to notice quick turnover of staff and that is never good. Laundry services are particularly troubling as mother’s sweaters have been ruined, her quilt was washed and shrunk even though specific directions were given to let family clean it (they did reimburse us for it which helped), and shirts, underwear, towels and wash cloths are missing despite repeated conversations with staff. Laundry baskets have gone missing. Cleaning services are less than stellar and friends that visit notice the same. I am very frustrated and don’t know how they are rated outstanding. There have been some caring aides along the way and I have been grateful for them, but they never stay. To me that says something about a company. I have reached out to the director and they have offered to reimburse for lost items. I don’t want to continue to purchase new things every time I come there. Not sure what it’s going to take to turn this around.

Best Senior Community-bar none. My mom and dad moved into New Perspective senior living during the first week that they were open. And in the years since the staff and residents at this community have become family to me and my family. I simply cannot say enough about how wonderful they have been at every turn during our journey. my mother passed away 18 months ago, and my father lived at New All of them have brought so much laughter and love to the lives of my mom and my dad and myself over the years. You could not make a better choice for your own family than to choose this community. Perspectives for another year before I moved him to Seattle to live closer to me. When we left the community this summer for the last time, I shed tears thinking about how much I would miss the caregivers, the marketing Director, the activities Director, the general manager, and the maintenance Director. Darin, Jeff, Connie, Mary—and all of the care staff-all of them have brought so much laughter and love to the lives of my mom and my dad and myself over the years. You could not make a better choice for your own family than to choose this community. And: I share all of theirs not just as a daughter, but also as a senior living professional in Seattle.
What a wonderful place to call home! We recently put a family member in the Betty's Harbor memory care wing and to say the staff is wonderful is an understatement. A friend told me not to worry as they'd have him doing things he hasn't done in years. He was right! My father is doing activities I didn't know he could do! They have their own director (Amber, a saint!) which is huge. I cannot stress enough how caring, compassionate, kind and accessible the entire staff is. Knowing he is in such a loving place makes this life chapter a little easier from 1,200 miles away. Thanks so much New Perspectives!
We recently moved a family member here and our experience with New Perspectives has been nothing but the best. Working with Colleen and Mary was wonderful. I know we weren’t the only family moving in that week but Mary made it feel like we were her only priority. The time and attention she gave us to make sure everything was perfect was above and beyond. Every detail of New Perspectives has been well designed. The fireplaces throughout each floor make it inviting and cozy. At first, my favorite spot was the Bistro where residents can gather for coffee, a sandwich or dessert or just sit by the fire and play card games but then I found the gorgeous library where Tea is often served by the cozy fireplace. The facility is extremely clean, secure, and the decor is what I would put in my own home. Thank you both for making this transition seamless. You have no idea how much we appreciated it.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Do not be fooled by the fancy building, the care is the worst I have ever seen. I have worked in long term care and have experience and knowledge of state standards and New Perspectives falls short. My mom fell, broke her hip and was not found by staff for several hours. She was then placed back in bed. She had Alzheimers so she had no way to express pain or ask for help. The staff has no behavior support and is not equipped to care for those with dementia but are happy to charge you extra for memory care. My moms broken him compromised her quality of life. She went to the ER 24 hours later when we saw she was not ok. She never walked again. We moved her to a smaller facility with non corporate management and magically she did better. Well trained staff and compassionate ownership coupled with a competent RN team makes a difference. My mom was robbed of so much with her Alzheimers diagnosis and then to have such negligence to have a fall no one saw and to break a hip for a woman in great physical health weighing 95 lbs is not ok. Our family witnessed other residents fall too due to low staffing ratios. Please avoid placing lived ones here.
