If you truly love your family member please don’t send them here. This place is dirty, raggedy, and the people are thieves. I had my grandmother in her for a couple of days. I had family members tell me they caught my grandma trying to get out of bed by herself because no one came to help her to the bathroom. My grandma is an hospice patient so let’s make that clear. After they pressed the button again and waited ten minutes still no one showed up. My family had to go down the hall to find someone to help her which isn’t right. The guy that dropped my grandma off told me this center tried to keep her clothes. They tried to say that my grandmother didn’t come there with any clothes they sent her back in her gown. They kept her little purse with her medicine in it which means not only didn’t we get the bag back we didn’t get the last of her medicine.

If there was an option to rate this facility 0 stars I definitely would do so. My LOVED ONE resided in Mt. Vernon Rehab/Nursing Center for almost 2yrs. Some of the unfortunate & hurtful experiences my mother endured in this facility was terrible. The lack of professionalism, the total lack of empathy and lack of emotional intelligence, lack of time management that many of the NURSES & CNA'S , AS WELL AS MANY OF THE OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF MEMBERS AND MOST OF ALL THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE FACILITY J.MAURITZ WHO FAILED TO ADDRESS AND REMEDY A VERBALLY AND MENTALLY ABUSIVE SITUATION MY MOM EXPERIENCED. THE QUESTIONABLE CARE IN THIS place is unbeknownst to me. Please I'm begging anyone that has an elderly loved one Please avoid this place a few. For 5 months I witnessed another elderly resident that had no family or friends. The whole 5 months no nursing staff members ever gave this woman a shower.. when the staff here realize no one visits a resident or they have no family members to advocate for them they almost always fail to give the resident proper care and no form of attention, my mother had several incidents where the nursing staff failed to get her outside emergency care services in a timely fashion and caused more serious medical problems to my mother, the meals that are served to the residents are served cold i.e. HOT MEALS ARE ALWAYS COLD WHEN RESIDENTS RECEIVE THE MEALS, THERES NO ACTIVITIES THAT THEY OFFER THE RESIDENTS TO HELP THEM SOCIALIZE OR ENJOY FRESH AIR, THEY FAIL TO ANSWER CALL BELLS IVE PERSONALLY WITNESSED MY MOTHER AS WELL AS MANY OTHER RESIDENTS CALL BELLS RING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR BEFORE A NURSE WILL GO TO THE ROOM TO ADDRESS THE CALL BELL, IVE HEARD A NURSE LITERALLY YELL AT A WOMAN WHO WAS BEDRIDDEN BEGGING FOR WATER EVERYTIME SHE SAW NURSE WALK PAST HER ROOM "CAN I PLEASE HAVE WATER?" THE NURSE YELLED AGGRESSIVELY "SHUT UP" ( HEART BREAKING TO A NURSE SAY THOSE WORDS TO AN ELDERLY PERSON) THE FINANCIAL OFFICE STAFF MEMBERS ARE THIEVES THAT WILL CLAIM YOU OWE MONEY BUT CAN NEVER PROVIDE LEDGERS OR STATEMENTS FOR PROOF (MIND YOU NO MONEY IS OWED TO THEM). THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT THERE TO GIVE THE UPMOST CARE TO YOUR LOVED ONE, THEIR ACTIONS WITHOUT A DOUBT DISPLAYS THEY ARE THERE FOR A CHECK$, THEY ARE RUDE AND LACK CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE SKILLS
My father, who recently suffered his sixth major stroke, was hospitalized for over a month and, regrettably, I was forced to choose Mount Vernon as it was the only facility with an available Medicaid bed. Despite assurances from the director that my father would receive attentive care, within a week of his stay, we encountered severe neglect by the staff. They consistently failed to change his diaper for extended periods, even leaving him without a urinary catheter, jeopardizing his health, especially after recently recovering from a UTI. When I inquired about the frequency of diaper changes out of genuine concern, a nurse responded in an incredibly aggressive manner and accused me of questioning her competence. The situation escalated when she stated "this is how you people always act." Such behavior is not only racist, but is unacceptable and reflects a lack of empathy from a healthcare professional. If this is the standard treatment for concerned family members, we are deeply troubled and no longer feel comfortable leaving our family member in the care of Mount Vernon Rehab Center. This experience falls far below the expected level of care and professionalism in a healthcare facility, causing significant distress to our family during an already challenging time. I would highly advise against placing a loved one in this facility.
Mt Vernon Rehab is a good Skilled Nursing Center but the Mt Vernon Rehab Social Work Team Kim and Haley are INCREDIBLE!! Kim is the Mt Vernon Rehab Social Work Director and she very smart, hardworking and one of the most positive people you will ever meet. Kim and Haley make a great team. Mt Vernon Rehab is very fortunate to have them.
Having worked in health care for quite a while, I'm always skeptical of nursing and rehabilitation facilities, but Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehab Center really won me over! I needed to find a place for my mom to recover from a tough surgery, and they were, by far, the best. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was pleasant and accommodating. And then when I visited, I was so impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the staff. It was easy to see why they received the top rating from Medicare. Mom is back on her feet now, and the whole family is incredibly grateful for MVNRC!
