First and foremost I would like to say that I rarely complain but in this case I feel I should. My husband and I have toured 10 facilities since July because we need to place my sister in-law in a Memory Care facility. It is important to see where your loved one will be placed. Not one facility denied a tour plus they answered our questions. I just called Montclair Royal and spoke to Melissa. She stated that they do not allow tours until there is availability. Families want to see what the place looks like before placing a loved one. Does it have an oder, is it clean, where do they eat, recreational room, tv room, visiting area, etc. When we first visited Montclair Royal we were told we would be called so that a tour could be arranged. What changed between that and now? When I see an employer that hires and keeps staff who is rude and uninformed it turns me off. I would highly recommend AQUA RIDGE which is next to Montclair Royal. They have staff that are very welcoming and informative. We got to tour everything there. They even offered us to eat there so we could taste the meals. Christian was our tour guide and he was so polite. What a difference between your facility and Aqua Ridge.

My mom was a resident of Montclair Royale for almost two years. Annamarie and her staff are amazing. They took such great care of my mom. The staff on the memory care floor are so kind and caring. They build relationships with residents and family. I'm so grateful for all they do for residents and family.
My dad lived there for more than 3 years. Everyone who works there really cares about the residents. They treated my dad so well, always encouraging him, engaging in conversations with him, really getting to know him. He was pretty independent when he first moved in, then became wheelchair bound for over a year and a half, then became bed-bound for the last nine months of his life. They took such good care of him! He never had a bed sore or diaper rash, which is a problem in some places. The kitchen staff, the attendants, the management, the janitorial staff, everyone there is kind and helpful. I highly recommend Montclair Royale for loved oned.
My mother has been a resident of this facility for about 5 years now. They went through a change of management last year. From that point on, they've been great. I can see the change gradually over the year. The new adminstrator is really attentive. She is available when we need to meet with her to talk about my mother's care. She make sure it's exactly what I want and what my mother wants. I noticed that they are doing some renovations to the facility to make it a better facility. The staff has been really helpful and informative. They have alot of activities for the residents and my mother participates in most of them. I feel that my mother is healthy and happy at this facility and that's all that really matters.
I am giving this place one star because, only a few of the caregivers actually do their job. I've witnessed one caregiver shut the door on a resident because that resident was bothering her. Also the management doesn't really care about the employees. There's a new owner and her name is Anna Marie, she is never there only about two days a week if that. They cut down employees because they don't want to give them insurance and or benefits. So they are only down to two caregivers for three Floors. The place is a mess on weekends there is no one in charge except the medication technition. And when things happen in the weekends and we have to call the care coordinator she never answers her phone even when it's an emergency. They have caregivers passing medications that aren't certified to do so yet. There are always residents falling down and having to go to the hospital and unfortunately they don't come back, and this is because this place is not organized at all and they will hire anyone to work there. Management also doesn't know how to keep the patients confidentiality. They also will force you to work overtime and if you don't they will fire you, without just cause. The front receptionist is very rude and always has an attitude. In my honest opinion I wouldn't even take two looks at this place to move in the elderly, it is a waste of money.
