I’d like to think they are understaffed. They recently had a change in administration and lost a few nurses. In my opinion I can probably count the nice employees in one hand, the rest are just either going through the motions or are collecting a pay check. My mom lived here for 2 years and I recently brought her home because of her dementia and other red flags. Her blood sugars were over 200 at times over 300. The nurses never bothered to report it to the doctor or show concern until it came to my attention. Her legs began to swell and they tried to down play it. I documented these concerns in an email and upper mgt stepped in and addressed the issues. They were receptive and made the effort to make it right. Her dementia was the biggest concern and they are not a memory care home so we decided to bring her home. The facility is clean, they have a nice outdoor garden area with a waterfall (hopefully working now), but there are cat feces dropping throughout the garden from the stray cats which is nuisance because of the smell. Don’t get me wrong I love cats but The feces are not being extracted from the dirt. They host daily activities which is plus but The food is horrible and it seems diabetic diets are not established for those who need it. The stigma of nursing homes still exists and if you don’t stay involved in there care by asking to see there vitals, glucose readings, doctors Visits they will not get the proper Care. Considering the fact this is low income facility it is a reasonable establishment and fit the need for anyone that does not have dementia or Alzheimer’s

Monrovia Gardens Healthcare Center is such a blessing; a caring and loving senior home with people that do exhausting work to help everyone. They always made our mother feel secure, become a part of the "family," and able to walk through some difficult times too. Senior living is such a critical change in our lives and we are thankful that our mom was able to find warmth and security with such great staff. We are forever grateful.
The staffs at Monrovia Garden Healthcare Center are vigilant, helpful, caring, cheerful and professional. They have provided my father with excellent care. My dad wanted to go home when he first admitted. But now in less than two months, he actually likes that place and enjoys all the kindness services and nutritious tasty foods he has received there.
Monrovia Gardens has provided my mother in law exceptional care over the last three years. When she first arrived the staff did everything they could do give her the skills and physical therapy to enable her to return to her home. Unfortunately, she was unable to return home and she has been in this facility. The staff is caring, helpful and professional in all that they do for her care. They keep us informed of any changes in her health and treatment that may be needed. I do not hesitate to recommend this facility as a long term establishment.
Overcrowded. Rooms hot. 78 to 82 degrees recorded daily. Not safe or healthy, especially for patients with respiratory problems.
