My dad moved to Mission Chateau 6 months ago and absolutely loves it. The staff is wonderful! He has already made so many new friends. The facility is lovely, food is great and they offer a variety of activities.
We just placed my mother into memory care yesterday at Mission Chateau. Everyone we greeted said “Welcome Betty to Mission Chateau, we are glad you will be staying with us”. The first day exceeded our expectations which were already high. Not only the warm welcome, but we were very impressed with the professionalism and skill level of the team. Tanya the head nursing supervisor was very sharp and especially professional. Suzanne the activities coordinator was warm and encouraging to my mother since she has lacked socialization and much activity for a few years. We found the caregivers/nurses throughout the day were patient and respectful, even though they had to repeat their names to my mom over and over again - God bless them all for putting up with that !! After 90 years living in her own home, my mother is in a very clean, well run and personable environment that she can call her new home! Thank you Mission Chateau management, staff and ownership!
I still have not been contacted by anyone from Mission Chateau like they said they would. SAD, but not surprised. It has been over 6 months since I submitted my original review of Mission Chateau and they have yet to follow up with me, as they stated they would. It is disappointing, but expected, as they are only interested in appearance of their property and not the well being of their residents when their health starts to decline. It is a great place as long as your loved one does not require additional care and does not inconvenience them. But wait until they do decline. You won’t find a lot of compassion or desire to help. It has been 3 months and Mission Chateau has yet to contact me. Good reason to avoid this place! Have a great sales pitch, but do not deliver on what they promise. I am still waiting on Mission Chateau to contact me. They commented two months ago they would contact me to see how they could make things right and I am still waiting. Due to their unwillingness to contact me is an excellent reason to avoid Mission Chateau. I have yet to be contacted by Mission Chateau’s owner to discuss how they can make things right. Would not recommend Mission Chateau or any Tutera elder care property. Based on my parents experience, Mission Chateau has minimal empathy and compassion for the elder and are totally focused on the bottom line. Beware of all the add on costs that can easily add up each month. You only get two meals a day (pay for lunch) with minimal portions. You are charged extra for sodas, deserts and other amenities. If you have a loved one and expect, at some point to move them the memory care at Mission Chateau, they are very selective and only take “high functioning” memory care residents. But, are not up front in telling you this. You find this out once you move in. If your loved one is in latter stages of dementia and is at end of life, you will have to move them to another facility. Beware of Tutera properties. Beautiful facilities, but look beyond the millions that they spend. Money does not buy compassion and a caring and loving environment.
Independent living at Mission Chateau has been a blessing to our family for almost 3 years. I used to be a home health nurse and visited clients in similar communities. When it came time to find a place for my own family member Mission Chateau stood out. Common areas are clean, well lit, and designed to encourage socialization. After committing to an apartment we were provided a helpful list of movers, one of which was able to help us with an out-of-state move at a very fair price. Another team from the same list unpacked and organized the new apartment. While there was some initial resistance to the move, over time my family member became more socially engaged. From the moment he arrived, the team at Mission Chateau took steps to introduce him to his new neighbors and help him feel at home. They made sure he had someone to eat with at meals, invited him to a men’s group, and asked existing neighbors to stop by to say hello. A page with his picture, interesting bullet points about his background, and contact information was added to neighbors’ binders throughout the facility. Over time, the level of thought, and effort behind operations at Mission Chateau has been consistent. A monthly schedule contains quality opportunities for outings, concerts, exercise classes, happy hour, and holiday celebrations. The ladies at the front desk pay attention and intervene when necessary, including calling me if concerns arise (special thanks to Dee Dee, Judy, and Georgeanne!). Lisa K. and Sherri O. have helped us navigate difficult level-of-care decisions (thank you!). In addition, leadership has proven kind and patient. They understand dementia-related changes, even at the subtle early stages, and have responded in ways that preserve my loved one’s dignity. Every large and complex operation occasionally encounters glitches, and Mission Chateau has been no exception. The difference is that leadership is approachable, responsive, compassionate, and flexible. I can’t imagine my family member living anywhere else.
