Shame on ASU and Mirabella for ruining a vibrant piece of AZ culture. Whoever was involved with this project or works for them are demonic. Music heals and there is other land that could have been developed that would have respected historical assets in the area on Mill. This is like building a church in a strip club… Shady Park is missed by more people than this terribly located retirement home is servicing.

Mirabella at ASU is something very special. As a very active 70+ year old retired attorney, I love the variety of activities offered by Mirabella. Everyone I have met there is enthusiastic, active and intellectually adventurous. Come to Mirabella — you will be amazed!,
What a poorly placed community. Put a bunch of old folks in downtown Tempe known for lively nightlife and attack local business who have been there first for being loud. How poorly planned. Hope this place goes under and the trend doesn't continue and destroy tempes culture for ASU profit
Mirabella ASU, a cutting-edge intergenerational, continuous care, campus-based, not-for-profit community, became our home 2 years and 4 months ago. We lived in the East Valley for 38 years before moving into Mirabella ... the only choice for us. We love our apartment, our facility and amenities, the the campus(es), downtown Tempe and the proximity to everything we need. We are Sun Devils! Many of our employees are ASU students who we residents support with scholarships and bonuses. Many of our residents are ASU alumni and parents of alumni. Students receive good job training and encouragement. There is energy here! We volunteer, attend classes, develop student friendships, cheer at recitals and sporting events, and learn/share stories. We are people who love learning and reject being isolated into an "old people's" community. Wouldn't you? We do not speak of student fun with the same vitriol as the few snarky reviews describe our presence. If one has an issue with placement of this futuristic facility, Tempe City Council approved it and Shady Park. Meanwhile, put out a friendly hand and learn who cares about this lively campus community and downtown. I would like to try Shady Park's good food, but feel unwelcome so I dare not (yet). Peace and goodwill.
My wife and I moved to Mirabella just over a year ago after 18 years in Sun Lakes. We loved our time there but realized, as we grow older, we will need the support services offered at Mirabella. We now know we made the right choice! We're particularly pleased with the ASU connection. We audit classes regularly. Engaging with students has proved invigorating. And we love the compatible mix of residents living here. So many are very active. There's always something interesting to do. This is an outstanding retirement option!
