I'm mortified about this place. It smells every time I go visit, no fresh air that comes through this place. The Aids that work in bring other Aids in to show one patient didn't have panties on and they all laughed at her while she slept :-( Then one nurse tells the patients to come back after 2pm to have their sugar tested when it should be test before they eat lunch. And yes, I have spoken to the nurses and Bob Barker just for him to be rude. That are not allowed to a walker (and my family member can barely walk and they need to have a permission slip, WHAT WHY??? She not even allowed to use her asthma pump without having to ask to use and then make to wait WHAT!!! Don't send your loved ones here

My father was sent here after promises of "new management." The reality--this place is the worst, with one exception. The PT seemed good, so shout out to the physical therapists. But that is a very small part of what you are getting. There is no care and very little nursing. Maybe there was a physician who breezed through with a superficial review of my dad's situation? Hard to know because they didn't communicate with him or us. Nurses seemed to be few and far between and certainly there was limited to no interest in the well-being of the patients. The facility is clearly understaffed. On one visit I stayed for 3 hours. There was one nurse, who stood in the hallway on a computer the entire time. No interaction with patients whatsoever. My dad eventually was rushed to the hospital after 2 weeks and he passed away the next day. Not only should that not have happened, no one from Merrimack/Vero even called us to let us know he was sent to the hospital. This facility should be closed. Please take this review to heart and do not make the same mistake we did!! Note: they have a one star Medicare rating as well-had I not been falsely reassured about the changes that were being made, I never would have sent my dad here. Regret to last a lifetime.
Poor medical care and callous administration. My father was there for a few weeks to receive respite care. While there his health precipitously declined, which was not cared for effectively by the medical staff. The most egregious aspects of our family's experience was when they finally recognized the seriousness of his decline and sent him to the emergency room, they did not notify any family members. By the time the emergency room staff contacted us he was already unconscious and we missed the opportunity to say good bye. No one ever reached out to us to express condolences. Avoid this place at all costs; they should be shut down.
They make it look so nice in the pictures, it’s not like that now. My father was in there for 3 weeks he couldn’t walk and they new that. He fell twice and on the 3rd time they an ambulance and took him to Anna Jacques they couldn’t help him there so he went Boston and 3 days later he passed away. I think place should be shut down. FYI it was Vero health and rehab. Changing the name didn’t help it, it’s still a death trap
My grandmother is a resident at Merrimack Valley. She was always very independent. Then she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Knowing that she is safe, well taken care of and most importantly happy where she lives is so important to me. I see her laughing with friends, and joking with the staff. Everyone knows my Grandmother as the lady who teaches everyone Italian, funny part is, they all learn. I would recommend Merrimack Valley to anyone who has a family member they love.
