For 2.5 months this past fall, I was actively considering moving into Merrill Gardens and was on the waiting list. During that time, Ian Mackenzie was so supportive and treated me almost as if I already lived there. He went out of his way to facilitate me meeting residents and viewing the different sizes and configurations of their apartments. The residents are friendly and welcoming. Even though I ultimately decided against assisted living, I cannot say enough good about Merrill Gardens.

We moved our mom into Merrill Gardens in Ballard this summer after looking at a few local places and are so happy with our choice. Ian Mackenzie, the Community Relations Director, was so welcoming, and obviously well liked there. He answered our endless questions, and my mom's apartment was in great shape when we moved her in. The staff is so nice (especially Denise at the front desk). The building itself is so beautifully designed inside and is so cozy and different than other senior living residences. Plus, the rooftop deck is amazing! It's a great place for design-minded, intelligent, active seniors looking for a friendly, engaged community. Lots of programming and activities, too, and within walking distance of the library, a JoAnn's, Ballard Farmers market a gorgeous yarn shop, and many other lovely stops. I highly recommend you take a look at it if you want to move a parent or your parents closer to you in Ballard, especially.
Merrill Gardens at Ballard is the most amazing senior living community we could have ever hoped to find. The staff including Ian, Vincent and the General Manager Lisa, care so much about the residents and family and do everything possible to work with you when there is any kind of issue. When we had to find a new facility because our loved one was seeking exiting issues, they worked with us to find alternative solutions. Our loved one and our family felt welcome, loved and so missed when we left. We never felt alone there. When looking at new places, nothing compared to this facility especially regarding the warmth and care of the staff and how welcome they made us all feel. This is truly a gem.
As a vendor for Merrill Gardens, I'm always pleased by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff! They make you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. When the time comes, I will definitely consider Merrill Gardens as an option for my loved ones.
Our parents moved into Merrill Gardens at Ballard five months ago and it was the best decision we've made. After years of looking for the right place, we feel we've found it. It's open and light design appeals to their Nordic roots, they love the food, and have made friends easily. The nursing team is top-notch and the vibe is warm and familial. We love being able to walk with our parents to Ballard Avenue for dinner, the Locks, the Nordic Heritage Museum and the local elementary school just up the street. Oh, and the rooftop garden! So much to rave about. We're delighted and relieved.
