My mom never wanted to be in a home, but who really does? It was the toughest decision we had to make. What eased the burden was finding the wonderful home that Memory Lane has created. There were homes that were closer, but our family definitely believes this is where my mom received the best care. The home is clean and cheerful. The staff is the absolute best! Activities all day long, events planned, continuous interactions with those they are charged with caring for. Not only is the staff caring for those living there, but for their families too. We had care givers coming to my mom's home 5 times a week for 3 hours a day. She still deteriorated. We were told to call hospice. Instead, we placed her at Memory Lane. She improved there! Her ability to communicate and walk improved. She was actually dancing (with assistance). I highly recommend Memory Lane to anyone who has the difficult decision of placing a loved one in a home. They make it a home, where all are welcomed.
Memory Lane is a beautiful 6 bedroom ranch home where the care staff team have all received specialized training in caring for seniors living with dementia. When it’s no longer safe for your loved one to live at home alone, this place is the answer. Residents are cared for with genuine compassion and respect. My mom lived at Memory Lane for over 2 years. It was like living in her own home where the staff helped her find purpose in each day. They encouraged her to help complete simple tasks while she was still capable like setting the table, drying dishes, stirring the soup or folding towels. She was stimulated with arts & craft projects, games, singing and dancing. There were also days that she preferred to just be in her room or in the comfortable living room watching her favorite episodes of I Love Lucy or listening her favorite music. The staff lovingly guided her through each stage of dementia and worked along side hospice with quality end of life care. Memory Lane was my answer to prayer. You’ll be able to have peace knowing your loved one is receiving the best specialized dementia care in Michigan.
As a primary care provider I have spent countless hours in various assisted living homes. I have never had the pleasure of experiencing care of a dementia patient as I have here at Memory Lane. The owner of this facility is highly knowledgeable of the different types of dementia and prepares a care plan for each resident based in their diagnosis, past history, their hobbies, the foods they enjoy, the music they like, ect... She hand picks her staff to ensure that the individuals who come to care for residents at Memory Lane share her values of integrity and compassion of care. I have seen that each individual caring for the resident loves that resident as if it is their own family member. You can literally feel the love when you walk into each and every one of the Memory Lane Homes. I highly recommend this facility as this is where I would place my own family member if that difficult decision did arise.
I can’t say enough good things about the love and care that the residents receive at Memory Lane Assisted Living. I only wish I had found Joanna sooner! After touring other facilities and a couple of bad experiences, I knew the second that I met Joanna that I had found my mom’s new home. The residents are treated like family with the love, dignity, and respect that they deserve. I was comforted knowing that she was being well taken care of. It gives me peace to know that my mom was loved until her last breath. The hugs, tears, phone calls, and messages received from Joanna and her team in the weeks following my mom’s passing showed just how much they really care. I wholeheartedly recommend Memory Lane Assisted Living to anyone seeking care for their loved one. Thank you Joanna, you and your team are absolutely amazing!!!
