My 92-year-old mother recently resided at Mease Arcadia assisted living. She moved in August 4th. Over the course of 4 months communication was exceptionally poor, specialty referrals cardiology neurology were only half made, the director of nursing minimized everything incredibly rude. She offered to make referral appointments if I stopped talking. Executive director also rude unprofessional blew off my concerns. Kept saying this has been discussed let's move on. Main issue, on Nov 4th the doctor prescribed 2 new medications, on Nov 9th I asked mom how they were going, she said she never got them. I went to nurse station and the nurse on duty was unaware of any new medications. She opened a folder and there they were. I took picture. She called pharmacy and they were never called in. Nurse director said she would look into it and a week later I ran into her, she told me they had new staff, and they were giving mom the new meds just from someone else's bottle? Moms primary care suggested I ask to see the medication administration records to see if mom actually got the new medications and I was denied. Four hours later same day my mom received 45 days' notice to leave from Exec director. I told all of this to her Doctor who is medical director at Mease. He told me "Good luck at the new facility" Other issues included mom having a slip and fall after during hurricane Milton and Nurse director minimized it by writing they were only aware of mom cutting her finger. Her own nurses left me a voice mail of the slip and fall. Two days later I had to take mom to ER as she was feeling foggy. Fortunately, she only suffered a concussion not a brain bleed. Primairy care was only notified of fall by my text. No sympathy concern from Mease staff or management they only did another cognitive test on mom Lastly during Nov cold snap, I called Friday Nov 22 in morning to see that mom had her heat turned on. I kept checking throughout the day. I finally called and got a hold of nurse director 4:30 pm, was told the furnace was dead, and so old no parts available, it would take weeks to replace. We were offered respite or I could bring space heaters. I didn't want to move my mom into dreary respite specially with holidays, so I brought space heaters. I had just had surgery that week. After a week we gave up temperature in room in the 60s and moved her to the respite. The experience was awful. After one day I brought her back home Apparently Mease does not do Fall maintenance on furnaces but waits until things fail. One of the nurses said most of the furnaces there are in about the same condition. If you have a loved one at Mease please check on them. I pray for those who don't Sincerely concerned family member.

Mease Life housed our facility for storm Helene. Every Mease staff member was super accommodating and helpful to Westminster residents and staff. Staff were provided rest areas to sleep. Mease arranged the beautiful dining room for our residents to dine. Thank you for such lovely hospitality. The building is top notch and the occupants looked very happy living here. Nurse Lexi
We moved my mom into Mease Life. At the time she was not happy with this change. We made this move in hopes that she would do more then sit around doing not much of anything. Since her move she has made friends, attends exercise classes and other events. She absolutely loves the pool and water aerobics. I am extremely happy that her quality of life has improved so much. The extra bonus is being in Dunedin. She can walk around and experience the town if she wishes.
I am writing this on behalf of my mother, a resident at Mease Life: I am 88 years old and living in the Mease Life retirement community in Dunedin, FL. On July 3rd this year I fell and shattered my elbow. After my hospital visit I was sent to Cedars at Mease Life. Rehab at Cedars is excellent. There is a nurse on duty 24 hours and the aides are accessible, helpful, considerate and professional. The Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy departments are dedicated to the goals of their patients above all else. My elbow is progressing nicely and I am very pleased with the care I received during my inpatient visit as well as the outpatient visits I continue to attend.
I can not recommend Mease to anyone. My mother-in-law moved here because a lot of her friends live at Mease. The apartments are nice, but the food is horrible. My daughter ate with her grandmother and could not believe how bad it was. Recently it was necessary to move my mother-in-law closer to where we live. Upon discharge I was brought her medications to take with us. You can image my shock when there was another woman's medications mixed in with hers. The nurse had assured me she had given my mother-in-law all of these medicines. Of course, when I noted that some of them were not hers, she back peddled and said that oh no she had not given all of them. I spoke with the executive director who admitted their system is flawed. When I said I wanted a refund for the cost of the medication administration because I was not confident my mother-in-law got the correct medicines, he refused. If you are considering Mease Manor for your yourself or your loved one, I would reconsider.
