My Aunt has been in and out of their rehab department 3 times within the past year. The rehab team and nursing staff were just terrific! I depended on them to update me on my Aunt since I was not able to visit due to Covid. Everyone I spoke with there were very kind, supportive, and helpful! I was able to reach the staff easily whenever I called. Elaine at the nurses station, who I spoke with on a regular basis, was just outstanding! Dr. Shi called me personally when he had questions about my Aunt’s medical care. I am very grateful to the entire staff on the 3rd floor rehab team!

Really not that great. They seem to not want to be bothered. First of all, not their fault, but thanks to covid, I can't go in and check on my elderly father and how they are taking care of him. He fell multiple times this year at assisted living. This time, he landed in the E.R. After little more than a week here, they seem anxious to send him back to assisted living. He needs more physical therapy, which they are fighting me on to give him. Wish I could provide 24 hour care myself because I'd just keep him home. He really needs to be monitored and also washed up and everything. I have very little support and help from his family, so it's a real strain on me alone. Also, the useless social worker Jennifer was a little uppity and no help. She left a voicemail that he is going on hospice care with no follow up. Imagine being told this via VOICEMAIL with no explanation , ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC!
The only words that accurately describe the experience my Mother had at the "Manor by the Sea" are Deplorable, unskilled, uncaring & understaffed. If you care for your loved one, I urge you to reconsider. Need an example, I have many, but I'll give you the worst. My mother sat trembling in a chair for days at a time, no-one knew what was wrong, after changing medications, and chest X-rays the night nurse assured me "oh there fine" I left at 9:00 that evening. I returned the next morning to spend the day as I did everyday, because if someone isn't there to get things going, nothing gets done. I arrived at 8am to find her trembling in a wheel chair and her food tray all over the floor. I insisted on getting her to the hospital to find that she had a liter and 1/2 of fluid in her lungs and had pneumonia. After four days I returned to find her room had been emptied, her belonging thrown into 2 dirty boxes, personal items that we purchased were missing from the cooler they called a refrigerator, and the transporter I purchased to get her back and forth was missing until I raised hell for them to find and return it. If you need more reasons not to place your loved ones in to this facility, feel free to leave your email or contact information. I'll will be glad to share more horror stories about this inadequate facility . PS...ignore the one star, I hit it by mistake and can't delete it
My mother was in this facility for almost 1 month. she was released 5 days ago and is back in the hospital. This place is a fraud. Unfortunately, with Covid, we were not able to visit her and she was not able to leave her bed. The social worker, Jennifer Jamieson flat out lied on the phone during our one and only call from The Manor during her entire 30 day stay. Jennifer advised us that my mom was walking 5 steps and able to stand and pivot. According to the ENTIRE MEDICAL STAFF at JSMC, there is NO WAY IN HECK she was standing and pivoting as she has the "MOST SEVERE CASE OF SPINAL STENOSIS" the hospital has ever seen and there is no way she was able to put any weight on her feet, let alone stand and pivot. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS PLACE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. RUN FAR FAR AWAY. I already spoke to an attorney as well as Medicare about the treatment she received, or the lack there of. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!
Manor by the Sea has gone downhill after becoming Complete Care. Understaffed all the time. The food is not edible. Don’t send anyone you love here.
