I moved my mom to Mahoning a little over a month ago. Previously, she was in an assisted living and had a fall. After several short term rehab stays at another Lehigh Valley area facility mom was not able to return to assisted living. I could not image having my her live permanently at the facility she was at for short term rehab. There was very little quality of life. After searching and pushing our way through the system, I'm happy to say, I can not say enough good things about the care at Mahoning. The place is clean, food is well prepared and the residents are taken to a dining room where they can socialize to their ability, the staff is wonderful and my mom's care is excellent.
I gave this place one star because no stars was not an option. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO BE ADMITTED HERE. My sister in law was completely neglected and as far as I'm concerned abused. Within one hour of her release she was fainting, vomiting and had severe diarrhoea. She also had a stage 3 bedsore. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She needed emergency surgery on the bedsore and is still in the hospital 2 weeks later. I called the nursing home to talk to them. I was screamed at and hung up on. No one should ever be neglected to this point. It is truly tragic. Please do not allow anyone to be treated like this.
My Mom was there for about 2 weeks for rehab. Excellent facility Nursing staff is wonderful. CNA 's are wonderful. Therapy staff are wonderful. Very clean facility. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I have been to many nursing facilities and this one by far is the best one I have ever been to. Keep up the good work and friendly service.
Big facility but treat residents like family. You can tell they care about the residents.
