I stayed at this facility for three weeks in December and January. I had excellent care beyond what I expected. My new medications had to be adjusted and, thankfully, they did that. My nurse, Shaneka, and the doctor worked with me until they got it corrected. Their concern and care was comforting to me when I didn’t know what was wrong. The OT and PT groups worked with me and helped me regain my strength. The food was really very good. They have a ‘shower team’ that helps you when you are too weak to handle that by yourself. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. I thank them for all their support and help in getting me able to go back home.

As an intern at MacGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center, I can genuinely say this experience has been life-changing. The warmth and dedication of the staff in the activities department create an environment that feels like a second home. Terry Edwards, the activities director, is nothing short of amazing. Her creativity in organizing engaging activities really brings joy to the residents. It’s inspiring to see how much she cares, always making sure everyone feels included and valued. She taught me a lot of lessons over the course of my internship that I will continue to use in my future work. Savannah, her assistant, is a ray of sunshine. Her upbeat attitude and willingness to help make every day enjoyable for both residents and staff. Working alongside her has taught me so much about the importance of creating a supportive community. Then there's Jennifer, who adds another layer of compassion to the team. Her kindness and readiness to support others make a huge difference in the lives of the residents. It’s clear that she truly cares about each person she interacts with. She welcomed me with open arms from day one! Overall, my time at MacGregor Downs has been incredibly fulfilling. The strong sense of teamwork and dedication among the activities department has not only enriched my internship experience but has also shown me the impact we can have on the lives of others.
My mother has been there in long term care and I can say that she has received excellent care. She has lots of medical issue which they have kept a close eye on. We have a very involved family which I think helps make the experience better for her. Families need to be involved and present.
I find this facility to be the best for three following reasons: the demonstration of compassionate care. Committed to addressing patient/patient’s family issues, and professional teamwork. I have witnessed staff ensuring the wellbeing of others. Although, I had an issue with laundry, several staff members working together, tried to contact the department head and use signage to rectify the problem. MacGregor, goes the extra mile to ensure you have a positive stay with a good experience. In comparison to other nursing facilities unhesitatingly I think you would choose them too.
Deidre Nixon is directing the activities for the residents on the weekends. She makes sure that any resident who wants to participate gets to attend the event. She is kind and caring to the residents. Christine Spencer is a CNA on Hall 6 . Her experience , sense of humor and compassion is present with every resident she cares for. Bruce Joyner in maintenance is always willing to address any repairs , and does so with a positive attitude. Savannah High is wonderful in the Activities Dept. Her smiling face and positive attitude are an asset for the facility, but especially to the residents . She has a gift of connecting with each and every resident she meets. My Mom is a long term resident at MacGregor Downs, and these are just a couple of the wonderful employees that work there , and I have had the pleasure to get to know.
