My brother stayed at Lorien Mt. Airy several years ago and I was very impressed with the care they showed him. The facility is very clean and the staff is kind and caring. They have a calendar full of activities for their seniors. I was and continue to be impressed with Lorien Mt. Airy!

I have worked much of my life in skilled nursing and assisted living communities, both as a regular employee and in management, and I will say that without a doubt this is the best place I have visited. There are a lot of different activities available for residents to participate in each day, and the staff is always encouraging residents to join in. The respiratory therapy department has excellent therapists on staff who have been there for several years and are very knowledgeable about what they do. On the administrative side, there are days that the executive director will be in scrubs, working right alongside the rest of the caregivers. Nowhere else have I ever seen this kind of hands-on involvement by a director! I can't say enough good things about Lorien Mt. Airy. Every place has its hiccups; no place is perfect every day, all day. But would I be comfortable having a loved one live there? Yes. In fact, if I suddenly needed to move into a community myself, I would not hesitate to make Lorien Mt. Airy my home.
My husband is currently at Lorien Mt. Airy after a stay in the hospital. He needed more care to become ambulatory and to resume his previous way of life. Everyone he has come into contact with have been very nice and attentive. They allow me to stay with him as long as I wish, and they have been as kind to me as they have to him. Lorien has many daily activities that patients and their guests may participate in. We would wholeheartedly recommend Lorien Mt. Airy.
I have been taking River, a therapy dog, to this particular nursing home for about 20 months. This is basically River's second family. He started his training at only 10 weeks old, going to the nursing home. He has practically grown up there. He loves each and every resident. They have definitely developed a huge attachment to my boy, and what a privilege it is for me to share him with them. River has visited for all major holidays and of course always in-between. The facility is always clean, and fun events are taking place. They go above and beyond to make sure everybody is having fun and their physical and emotional needs are met. The staff is absolutely lovely; it really is a family environment.
If you have been to and worked at different nursing homes, you would know instantly that Lorien Mt. Airy is different. It is very family oriented and home-like. The facility does not smell or look like a nursing home. The people who works there are very lovely and kind. I highly recommend this place.
